I am actually hoping I can find the floor plan from Sarah's House, Season 3 (The Farm House). I haven't been able to find it online, anywhere! I was hoping to get ahold of the measurements for each room too.
Does anyone have it?
What we want, for our new house, is a mudroom, with a half bath off of it, and then the whole big kitchen, dining room and vaulted living room.
Jov, if your search for Sarah's home doesn't turn up anything, I suggest you consult a local architect(s). Or, a decent design build company or a production builder.
You also can order stock house plans from a variety of sources like Southern Living or Sarah Susanka, but it is still important to bring in an architect who can tweak the plan and assist you in siting the home properly.
IMO, this is too important (and expensive) an undertaking to rely on amateurs or by online committee. In the long run, you will have the best, most cost-effective results by hiring a good local architect.
Thanks Aychihuahua! We have been looking at "real plans" and all that. I'm just curious what her floor plan was and what the measurements for each room are. We have found some nice ones that I think have a similar layout. We are most likely going with a timber frame and they have architects who will sit with you with just a rough plan and design it for you. (They even let you tell them your budget first, so they can design it with that in mind).
Graciepj, Thank you so much. I emailed her and I hope I get a response. I might just have to watch the episodes until I can sketch it out myself. (Which won't be any trouble, since I love the house and watching her process).
I think Sarah Richardson actually moved into the farm house, so that may be the reason that she pulled all the information about it from her web site. I hope she does respond to you with details.
It is ridiculous deciding which floor plan we like. Help! The website has so many and they can give us prices for the house all framed, closed in, insulated, roof, windows, doors... Like the over 3,000 sq foot one I posted would be $170,000 and we would have to finish the interior. That's a huge house, way more than we need. I like the one below, a lot. The porch would face the view. It's still pretty big though. I think we only need 2,000-2500 square feet.
