Oh no! Does this mean I have to drag out all of my emerald green and cranberry decor from my attic?! Let's hope next year is not mauve! Smile

If you watched Million Dollar Decorators last week, you would have seen Mary McDonald work her magic for the fashion designer Monika Chiang.

This past summer, Mary created a sexy and elegant NYC showroom using emerald and various shades of lilac and lavender, an insanely beautiful color palette: http://www.bravotv.com/million...-chiang#image-143610

Funny, I picked that green and painted a large canvas that color 4'X5' to see IF I could live with it in large doses. NOT

I love the color so much but found out I could only tolerate it in small doses which was a revelation for me since I have always loved greens in any shade!

Perhaps I would have liked it more when living up North. The 'forest' feel does not feel as good here in Florida for me.

I was okay with turquoise and I was okay with honeysuckle and tangerine, but I will be skipping emerald. There's absolutely no way to make it work with my current decor.

When I saw the color my first reaction was YUK, but then I saw a few photos with the emerald as an accent color and it's not so bad. I'm not sure if I would purchase anything more than a pillow cover in emerald and even that would be difficult to incorporate into my home.

The 2013 Pantone "emerald" to me reads less 80's jewel tone than a clear, fresh grass green, with more blue than yellow in it. Which is why I think it goes so well with purples and hot pinks. Reminds me very much of the Lily Pulitzer green and pink preppy look.

For a really trendy look, I would pair this green with a medium-deep cool gray, with lots of white.

I have two handbags this color, which I bought several years ago, and it is an awesome accent color. Which is probably how I -- not my house -- will wear it.

On the other hand, malachite green, with its black veining, is a classic color I am seeing more of lately, in finishes and accessories. Very elegant.

Great news for me. Now I don't have to worry about painting my living room this year (not that I really was worried).

I adore emerald green in genuine emeralds, in my LR not so much. Big Grin I have worn the color and like it, but in my house prefer forest, lime, or sage greens.

This year in my Christmas decor I'm using British Racing green predominantly which I usually refer to as dark forest green since I live in a forest.

Green has apparently become my favorite color since almost all my walls are painted in colors from the green family--but not THAT green. My spring/summer bedding is floral and it contains a leafy green--that's about as much of THAT green as I can tolerate.

I'm half Irish and I still can't wrap my brain around using Emerald green in decor. I do have an Emerald green sweater, though....lol

I love every color, emerald green included.

The fun thing about the Pantone color of the year is that while it is pretty serious to the marketing/developement side of all things design, it is fun and trendy for the rest of us. Emerald green is going to show up in fashion, and home decor, and really anything design related for the next year or so. It wouldn't surprise me if next Christmas I was carrying an emerald green clutch to a party, or maybe I'll be putting emerald green ornaments on Christmas trees, or buying some little accessory in emerald green from Target. It is a fun, fresh color, and I can't wait to see where it goes!

ITA. This is a delicious color. I have been seeing emerald green in fashions and accessories for about a year now. I think home design trends lag a bit behind fashion design trends.

It's all good.

So true.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think "emerald" is this photo. Remember those?

Coco,

Sadly, I am at the age where I'll take the emerald earrings and let Angelina keep Brad Pitt.

Green is my favorite color and those are fabulous earrings. For some strange reason I want Chanel for Christmas too... Big Grin

I agree, though, dark emerald should only be an accent color in my home. I'd paint sage green on the walls... still contemplating it in my bedroom.

Seriously, aychihuahua! Ha ha. I am not usually so much of a jewelry ogler, but I have always thought those emerald earrings were absolutely jaw dropping. So simple, without a lot of fuss, and yet, so much wow.
