I really don't understand it. When and why did light bulbs become a fashion statement?

Not trying to flame. I really would like to know.

This is just one example. The clear shades showing off the light bulb seems to be all over. Pendants, chandeliers, etc.

As you can clearly see, I like to flaunt my bulb. Wink actually, the industrial look has been around for sometime, but the trend is taking off for all styles of decor of late. This link illustrates the vast styles on today's market. Shine on and show off those filaments!
