Most of the people here are younger than I am but still we all have dreams. What decorating things do you still want to acquire? What have you already realized?
For myself I have always wanted a greenhouse or conservatory (never gonna' happen) also always wanted a screened in porch. Have had that for years.
Always wanted a really nice large wooden case antique piece (linen press or an armoire) don't think I'll get it.
How bout you? What remains on your list?

Happy Day Dreams
I still want a new modern design forever house with solar panels and a grey water system with a wall of windows with a distant view.
I'd also like a butler's pantry and wine bar.
A full size upholstered banquette with trestle table.
A king size bed with upholstered headboard.
A swimming pool.
I have my bergere chair already. * I love it.
That's my short list.

Well, since we're building and moving to a condo in the spring, we're trying to get rid of unused pieces. HOWEVER, since I will have 8 huge banks of windows. with 3 of them having the palladium half circle window at top, My bucket list wish is to do plantation shutters. Not sure that will happen- have to wait until late March to see how much over budget we go. A gal can always hope and wish.

I expect to have dreams until I can dream no more! That's one of the things that makes a satisfying life - to dream and see those dreams come true.
I've realized many dreams in my life and am very grateful. I am living in my dream house altho dreams do sometimes change so I'm thinking about another dream house which I will likely move to in another couple of years. My DH built me a garden house a few years ago which I had wanted for a very long time. I am now completing several landscaping projects here, some of which I've wanted for awhile. I will stay here to enjoy them awhile before moving.
I have always wanted a solarium/conservatory/garden room and plan to have that in my next house. I've been downsizing in preparation for moving and to have space for different furniture. I would like more vintage/antique items and there are some unique handmade pieces I've seen that I want. I will be buying new upholstered furniture when I move and have found a company and style I like. I'm currently thinking about a new color scheme which will be very different from anything I've had before.
One thing I've always wanted is a large pond, stream, or water feature in my garden but have shelved that for here as it's too much work and maintenance. Perhaps my dream of a moated chateau in France will come true!

I've always wanted back stairs and a butler's pantry but as long as we live at Linderhof that will never happen. And after staying at a friend's in NJ I would love a real English conservatory. However space constraints will probably keep me from doing that unless I do it on a very small scale and then it is sort of "what's the purpose"!
A greenhouse in the garden would be neat as well but there is no space for that either!
Oh, yes I forgot that in starting this thread. A beautiful custom made and unique table would be wonderful We have a shop here in Portland called Abacus and they have marvelous things that I covet. Not my usual taste either!

Not a decorating dream exactly, but I would love to have a solar panel installation and be off the power grid.

An indoor heated swimming pool.
A hot tub or spa.
An infrared spa.

Top of my list is an attached garage. Never gonna happen, but I can dream. Indexlady, I can understand about the indoor pool (big bucks) but why can't you have a hot tub now? I have a small one on my enclosed porch and use it daily. Well worth the small amount of money I spent and my place to dream every day.

That was one of mine since I was a child! Finally got one when we bought this house 1.5 years ago.

The Husband didn't understand the big deal, so I started "helping" him see the big deal. I'd go to the store for groceries, but be too "tired" to bring them in when it was pouring rain whether it was cold or hot--and they needed to be brought in because of refrigeration or freezer.
Now he understands the deal.
I'd like to get that spa, Jaysmom49, and perhaps in a few years I will. Budgetary issues at the moment.
A concrete pad for the RV and shed is first.

Well, if money were no object.... lol! We are in our, hopefully, final home. It'll be paid off in a couple of years and we are trying to sockaway for retirement. That said, my decorating comes a little at a time. As far as furniture, some of it is permanent, there are pieces I'd like to replace. I'd love to redo our kitchen. I'd love to tile our back porch. I'd love a really nice dining room set. I'd like to replace our fiberglass shower in the MB with something nicer. As I grow older my list gets smaller and smaller as I don't desire the newest and best. I'm pretty comfy right now. We've been married 32 yrs. We've owned 5 homes. Our tastes and loves (animals) are evident in our home. I've said it before, Los, your home is my ideal, meaningful items, wonderfully eclectic, warm and homey. That's my goal. That's my bucket list!

Fun Post!
My dream home is a key west style cottage on the water.....oh to dream!
My reality is living in a condo on the intracoastal waterway which is still beautiful and I feel blessed to be here. I just placed an order for a Lee Sectional which has been a dream of mine and now I'm making a reality of Seagrass rugs throughout. Living in a small space really helps my dreams become a reality as there's only so much stuff that will fit! lol!

Wos Janetaz what a wonderful thing to say. You have made my day!
About the hot tub or spa, my DD and her DH just bought one for their vacation home in the Berkshires (winters. . . long winters!) she said that because this house is not on water they feel justified in having this which they can use in the winter. Also she said that it can be easily rolled (empty of course) and stored. But they plan to use it in the winter.
My immediate list (short a/c one item) is to convince DH to make plastic covered panels to fit over the screens on our porch. Usually I cover all the furniture with plastic things a/c dirt and snow/rain etc. Sometimes we have rigged up large plastic tarp things to cover in the whole porch but that is awkward and difficult. I think panels that we can just screw in would be the better choice.
Of course a four season windowed thing would be preferable to any temporary thing but DH says we would have the rip the whole two story structure down and rebuild to support the weight of glass doors. I don't think he is right about that but that's what he says.

"bucket" list? Mine's more like a barrel list LOL.
Too many things I want to do, but I'm not sure how long we'll be in this house, so I'm going to dream about my next and hopefully last house. I'd love a pantry and one floor living on the water.
Decorating for my now house would be some new living room furniture and a hardwood floor in the family room

I have a greenhouse on my bucket list too. Something like this:

I'd love to have;
-a sunroom off of my livingroom (more like a gazebo but winterized). -Still need the back fully landscaped. -paved driveway (if dreaming then I'd love to have a brick driveway but our driveway is huge) -attached garage would be nice. -an extra two rooms built on to the main level, an extra bedroom and closet/laundryroom.
Most of these won't be realized (except the landscaping, that will be done) unless we win the lottery

The other bucket list items are being done slowly but surely. We almost have half of the kitchen remodeled, just waiting on the countertops. The other half is waiting for the master suite to be built so we can tear down a wall to expand.
Speaking of sunrooms, I would love to one day add this to the back of the house.

We did do ours, but it is only about 10' X 30'
zone lady I would love that greenhouse you show but it would never last through a Maine winter, or rather the plants would not!

I am finally living in my forever home and I got so many of my dreams when we built. Big kitchen, big pantry, big laundry room next to my bedroom, our own suite with bathroom and walkin closet, jet tub (which I am LOVING since I have fibro) walkin closet for all bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, porches porches and more porches, a swing for the porch (also got a glider) lots of land, lots of room...
BUT like anyone I still have dreams and some of those stem on selling our other house and those will get done.
Getting the landscaping done. I want pink and white dog wood trees in my front yard.
Walkway to the front porch.
2 car attached garage. Already have a hallway in the house and the doorway is under the drywall for when we are ready to add it.
Finishing the big room in the basement and adding a kitchen there. Hookups are there.
Storage building for lawn mowers etc.
Dreams I hope to do if we can are...
Plant some more fruit trees and get a small orchard going. Build a chicken house and get some chickens. I really really really would love to have an antique pie safe. I would love an antique bed for our bedroom as well as new bedding and curtains. I want 2 big rocking chairs for the front porch. I would love to have some primitive antiques like crocks, butter churn (the glass ones with paddles), coffee grinder, scale....things like that. New lamps for the living room.
***I'm sure I could add more. LOL...if I dream real big. Maybe an indoor swimming pool would be nice. A golf cart to ride around the property on. Paved driveway and parking area.
I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

1. A king-size four-poster plantation bed in mahogany.
2. A wrap-around porch with hanging flower baskets and wicker furniture with upholstered seats...a nice spot to read and have a coffee.

Everyone has one! Getting my big 1950s range out of storage and back in my kitchen was high on my to do list but has gradualy moved into my bucket list. I have to redo the cabinets and countertops or get new ones, then there's the floor and a thousand other things. Life is good! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Raymanretro,
