Hey everyone, I'm looking for some feedback on something I'm working on from all of you here. I've noticed that a lot of my friends and others on the boards here feel that professional help is out of reach for them, either financially or that it's too hard to find someone local. So I'm trying to see if there's another way for people who still want professional advice.

The service I'm building helps people with small interior decorating needs (choosing paint color, rug choice, etc.) get advice from professional interior designers and decorators all online.

The idea is that you can send your question (e.g. I need a new lamp, what do you suggest will go with everything else in my room?) along with photos and necessary measurements, and I would connect you with a professional designer to help you out remotely. You'd pay a small amount (~$100 or less), and our interior decorators will send you their tips and links / pictures to possible pieces that would work.

What do you think of this? Would you only consider professional help for large projects (an entire room redesign) or would you want advice for minor details too if it were cheap enough? How often do you find yourself with these small projects?

Thanks everyone, any suggestions and tips would be awesome! Also, let me know if you're interested, I have quite a few designers already lined up.

It appears you didn't not read this board's guideline rules. NO ADVERTISING IS ALLOWED!

Sorry Froo Froo, I actually don't really mean this to be straight advertising, I more just want some feedback and opinions from people here.

If it helps, I'd gladly remove the links and details about the service?

That would be a good idea.

I'm sure you understand Darrel that we can get that same type of advice for FREE here on this and other home decor forums as there are several qualified designers who frequent such forums.

Quite right. In fact in a nutshell that is the purpose of this DECORATING forum!

Thanks for response Lucky and lady of shallot!
You are both quite right about the purpose of this decorating forum, and I wholeheartedly agree that the quality of some of the designers here (professional or not) is tremendous.

(also, I removed the links, sorry for the 'spammy'ness of it!)

Just wanted to add, Darrelsumi, that there are many many many people who offer the same type of online design advice. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, I am just saying that the idea isn't original or new.
