Are bedskirts out of style? Sign In/Join

I've been trying to find bedskirts for a set of twin beds forever without much luck. BB&B have some, but they're not particularly well made. The usual reliable stores like JCP don't seem to sell them and on-line sources are pretty scarce. Are bedskirts just a thing of the past? If so, what do people do to cover up their box spring?

Bed skirts are very much still in style. Ready made, high quality bed skirts are hard to find.

No, they are not out of style. They come in an array of styles from ruffled to tailored. The most recent I found were in fact in BB&B but in their bedspread section. It is a white ruffled dotted Swiss. You may have searched in the sheet section of that chain. Also, you can cover the box spring with a coordinating fitted sheet. I suspect that places like Target and perhaps JCP still carry them as well.

Why is that, Cocok? I'm just curious. Jewel, I think maybe they are easier to find in a "set" than a la carte. As to what people are covering their box springs with, I have mostly seen comforters or coverlets that are large enough to cover the box spring, but leave the space beneath the bed open. This is fine if you have a nice wooden bed frame (and don't need the under-bed storage), but if you just have a metal frame, then I think you still need a bed skirt.

Funny you should bring this up. Last week I was wondering the same thing while browsing. I saw several examples of bed covers that did not reach the floor with no bedskirts. BTW, you can buy a box spring cover.

Jewel,

Do you have a local linen store? They can special order for you with choices of colors and drop. I like the 3 panel bedskirts (3 separate pieces) and use them instead of the platform type.

Some here

more here

another site

Lots here

More options here for you.

Don't forget the budget friendly home decor stores too.

Good luck!

If all you want is plain (white, cream, etc) try Kohls. Can't speak as to the quality, but they do sell bedskirts.

eBay is another option. There are tons of bed skirts available, especially in twin.

Look at overstock.com. They have lots of them, both tailored and gathered.

Thanks, all. I'll check out the links. I'm not looking for white, so that may be part of the problem. I appreciate your suggestions and comments!

LOL. My thought exactly! Try brylanehome.com,domestications.com or LTD (not sure what there website is). I get catalogs from all 3 and have seen them sold "ala carte". The problem there is a limited choice of colors, but it's worth a shot.

If you're looking for a print or plaid, my following comment won't work, but thought I'd share just the same.

I've used the Rit washing machine dye several times when wanting a specific color. In fact, if you go to their website, they'll show what colors to mix to have even more options of color.

Good luck with your project.

Another thought that I'm considering doing myself - buy a larger bedspread. For example, I have a full-size bed, but what if I buy a queen or king bedspread or comforter? Something that would be big enough to reach the floor? Any thoughts on this? Has anyone tried it?

Bed skirts are one of the easiest things to make, even if you have no sewing skills at all. Here are two different ways to make them. The nice thing is, they take very little fabric and if your bed is tall like mine, you can make them the exact length you need.
