1. Had pergola built over existing old patio deck. 2. Bought $3 cushion at yard sale for an unassembled Adirondack chair that has been sitting on the shelf in the garage for a year. 3. 4. Found heavy duty lounge chair at garage sale for $5! It was painted dark navy and green with chipped white spots. The cushion was a bright kelly green. 5. I looked online for fabric to cover the cushion with outdoor fabric -- approx. $30 - $50. I abandoned that idea.This message has been edited. Last edited by: MyLifeVacation1,
6. Went to store to buy black spray paint to cover the lounge chair -- figured the kelly green wouldn't look too bad on the black lounger. Then I spotted the Rustoleum Satin Apple green spray paint. Bought two cans and sprayed the lounger. 6. Still to do -- stain the deck floor, find a stool or stand and paint appropriately.
ETA: Its interesting to me that the pic shows the deck as new wood when it is actually dingy and gray. But the colors of the chairs are true. Odd.This message has been edited. Last edited by: MyLifeVacation1,

Your camera picked up on the Amber colored light. In the morning here if I take a 'no flash' photo, the sky and all around has a pink tint. Looks good though the Amber light warms everything up! No pictures of the pergola top? I see a hint of it and it looks more solid as to make shade for your sitting area?

MLV, GREAT look! I love it! How nice to have a spot to relax and enjoy the view of your yard! Must be West exposure. I can see the required shade (matchstick) to roll down and block it when it gets real low. I hate driving towards that type of sun exposure, can't see!

Actually one of the guys working on the pergola gave me some seeds for a vine -- name slips me right now -- purple dripping blossoms -- I am going to put them in on one corner of the pergola....what you see in the pic in front of the fence is a viburnum bush. Provides great screening from the house next door and a play room for the birds. Your pergola is great -- I bet it keeps cool under there!
I plan on staining the deck to tie in the old part with the new part that was just built and stain the posts too -- but I'm going to let the top gray naturally. Basically cause I can't reach it readily without using a 10 ft. ladder and I need to think about future upkeep as I get older. I'm not one to hire out upkeep chores. It was a huge leap for me to even hire the guys to put in the deck/pergola. 5 years ago I would have done it myself.

It takes up less than a square foot of space on the ground and is very many years old (30?) however it has been like this for almost all of those years. At first we did not have the arbor so the growth was not as great.
I think you mean a wisteria which we also have (see this pic). The wisteria was planted on the other side and this year has just about reached the end in this pic. this is maybe 10 years old and only blossomed last year.

YES!!! Wisteria. I'm going out this evening and plant my seeds. I've got nothing but time to let it grow. Thanks for jogging my memory.
Very nice! Love how each peice came together and made a nice patio! The pergola looks like it will provide great shade, and when the plants grow up and fill in, it will be just perfect!
I'm still waiting for my grapevine and Confederate Jas to completely cover mine.
