log cabin decorating
Here are some pics of DD's log cabin vacation home. She takes time to do things, buys at auctions and yard sales. They have owned this four years and improve it slowly. i.e. stone work on fireplace just finished.

Your DD is creating a most warm and inviting retreat......so perfect for vacations. I love how she is slowly adding things to suit the character of her cabin. LOVE the shearling by the fireplace!

I would love to spend some time there! She is doing a wonderful job on it. Thanks for sharing.

Does she decorate for Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Mary Ann, I bought that shearling for them. Froo, she and I found the rug together here in Portland at a rug store. She got a good deal.

DSIL especially loves this place and spends most weekends here. Strings she does decorate for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. In fact one of DSIL's "honey do" items was to bring the fake Xmas tree up from the basement.

They are near Tanglewood and Stockbridge plus lots of other interesting small towns. Lots to explore and do sporting activities.

Here is the Thanksgiving table in the process of being set. DD worked for many years as a stylist for Neiman Marcus.

We have lived in two very different log homes; one country/rustic and one more contemporary.

In both, I used quilts as wall hangings to cover some of the large walls. One was made by MIL, one made by me and a couple cheap0s that I had bought for just a few bucks.

What a delightful, charming and cozy cabin. Her Thanksgiving table is beautiful and in keeping with its surroundings. Love those dishes!! Looks like a great geataway where you can relax and unwind from the stress of work and the city.

this visit I actually found myself studying the logs, it is really interesting to see how they were put together.

I also have always wanted a log cabin. Based on my comic strip reading so like Snuffy Smith's or Lil Abner's. Rag rugs, quilts, log beds and only one room!

I can envision myself snowbound in a small cozy log cabin, sitting in front of a roaring fire with a heavy woven throw on my lap and a glass of sherry in my hand. (Sigh)
