Well we are VERY slowly getting "there" with furnishing our home. This is what we have done with our "formal living room" we aren't formal people. When we have people over they are usually in the kitchen, den, or back yard by the pool. This small living room needed some funiture we would use and we like the chairs and rug. We are considering a table between the two chairs and some small ottomans we saw at Pier 1. Any other suggestions?

I think a table and small ottoman is the way to go. I would also get a large plant (tall) for the corner and something different for the other tall candle stick, vase with reeds or bamboo, etc. Beautiful home.

I like the ottoman. I would put a table for sure. Something solid wood to pull in the armoire. The rug is beautiful!

Thanks for the compliments. Yes I agree we need to put something in the corner of the room by the window. Probably a large ficus tree or my wife has her eye on a large ceramic urn she would put some reeds or something.

Well I added a plant, though I am not sure it's going to survive the transplanting. We will be doing some more furniture shopping this weekend.....I think.

Love that armoire and the rug. Great wall color.

You know what would make me use this room? A round ottoman that the two chairs could share. This would make the area a welcoming space for chatting or reading a book.

That would also call for a floor lamp next to one of the chairs or a lamp table between the chairs - also so you have somewhere to set a drink.

Without some reason to sit and a place to put things, it feels a little like a passthrough room... like a hotel lobby. Pretty but not someplace you'd like to stop for very long.

I agree with adding a table between the two chairs and the plant looks great there.

I think a largish round ottoman might be the perfect thing for the room. We are definately going to put a a table between the two chairs. Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Well, the wife picked up a couple of the stools and some pillows on her way home. I like the look. A single round ottoman might have been better, I am not about to tell her that. Wink
