And Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends. I found this little cutie to act as a doorstop on my deck. The garden store had them in all sizes from fist-sized like mine all the way up to boulder-sized.

Gracie, that rock is pretty cute!

Although we have vowed not to bring any other new things into the house, DH could not resist bringing me this pitcher the other day from the swap shop. It is cut glass and the same as this one being offered for sale on EBay

Yes, Skyler, it is a carved rock. I'm not sure how they did the eyes.

That's a very pretty pitcher, Lady of Shallot. I wonder if you shouldn't start up an eBay shop as you find so many wonderful treasures and have mentioned that you are running out of room. Unlike a bricks and mortar store, you could work your own hours and limit your volume to whatever level you have the energy to manage.

Definitely very clever, Gracie.

LOS, I can see why DH couldn't resist that pitcher. It's very pretty. It's amazing what you two find at the swap shop.

Wow - a kinda slow day, huh??? School is crazy and I've just got to suck it up accept it that is just the way it is going to be. For therapy, I'm starting this quilt for a friend. This is big enough to kinda see how things are going to work out.

Gracie -- that's a cute door stop! OOAL -- A pretty quilt! Cant wait to see it finished!

Our Scottish Rite Temple sold some of their items and I bought some home.

I thought this was an umbrella stand but when I turned the second one upside down out came a quart of fine white sand -- which means that it was for cigarettes.

They had a lot of them. Bought one as an umbrella stand and then took it into the breakfast room - turned it upside down -- viola! A great plant stand. It's terra cotta with glaze work around the top.

I'm thinking the earliest is 50s but it may be earlier.

Here it is.

And here are two of them before I brought in the big plants!

I bought the one and liked it so much that I ran back for two more! Our town's history and three alike -- WOW!

Two lead flower frogs -- English. I paid more for them than I usually pay for things but

a - they're English

b - they're garden items

c - they're flowers

They were $40 each - OUCH!

I also got this footstool at the Scottish Rite and after I brought it home it was a "what was I thinking moment" -- for there were two green ones and this brown one. I'm thinking "one" but I have two wing chairs alike . . . I should have gotten the two green ones -- Oh, well!

Pretty fabrics, Out on a Limb.

Linderhof, I love that you are able to bring part of your town's history into your home. Also, those flower frogs are absolutely gorgeous. How funny that you sort of forgot that you had two matching chairs. Big Grin

Thanks Gracie, it is our Thanksgiving today. I made the turkey meal (as always). Family just left actually. That is a cute little bird, very different.

Emily, that is a beautiful pitcher. I love cut glass.

Outonalimb, you must love to sew and have lots of patience. That is going to be a great looking quilt, love the colors.

Martha, great finds and you don't usually find two items the same at sales. Great idea to use them as column stands too. I never saw frogs like those before, sweet. Nice stool as well.

I didn't buy much this week except a Christmas gift for my mom. I did pick up these 3 brass birds, which I will paint, for 99 cents (for the 3). I plan on changing my french country room to a more beachy room so these will go on the wall. Won't be this year though.

I do love to sew!!! I'd rather do that than just about anything else Cool I need about 100 blocks - still have 85 to go......

Pretty things from your city linderhof. I love to have things that have a sense of history surrounding them.

Hope you had a nice day for Thanksgiving, Victorian Girl. I like your seagulls. They should add a beachy note to your house.

Limb, that quilt is going to be so pretty, lucky friend you have. I really like the color combination. You're so lucky you sew so well. I wish we lived closer, maybe I could get you to teach me. When I was is school my mom kept trying to tell me to take sewing classes. She said one day I would be happy I knew how to sew. I didn't listen and took typing instead....a lot of good that did me Frown

Sorry school is a little crazy for you but at least the holidays are just around the corner Smile

Martha, very nice! It is nice that you were able to get three of the stands. The frogs are very pretty. Sometimes ya just have to bite the bullet when you find something you love! I had to laugh at your footstool incident!

Happy belated Thanksgiving VG. We were in Canada last Thanksgiving and celebrated with our Canadian friends. It was great....and then we went home and did it all over again in November . Lots of turkey last year! Pretty birds and I can't wait to see your room makeover. I always love what you do.

outoalimb, I LOVEEEEEE fabric and love to dream of all the things I'd like to make buttttttt, I don't like to sew at all. For me, it's just a matter of getting something different by sewing and it's less expensive than buying. I would like to take a sewing course, I may find it easier if I knew the proper way of doing things. You'd shake your head if you saw how I come up with the things I do.

Gracie, it will only be the one bedroom. The one below. It is the guest bedroom, mostly my dd's bedroom when she is home.

Skyler, you have a Canadian hubby right?. Does his family have turkey at Christmas too? We always have.

Hello Skyler,
Thank you again for hosting MMF's!
Happy to see the thread started on Mondays!

Gracie,
Love that doorstop! How adorable!

LOS,
Nice pitcher! Now how could he resist?

out on a limb,
Beautiful! Look at all those corners! Yikes that has me scared... you did a beautiful job on those 9 (see the 10th too) squares! Each one is a LOT of work! AND only 85 to go!!!

Linderhof,
LOL (the sand) or to weigh down the base, and the umbrella tops would not tap the bottom to break it. So you got 4 of them? Nice haul!

Those lead flower frogs are so nice! I only have not seen that type of frog, beautiful! I can see why you had to bring them home!
And the brown stool is nice, will go anywhere!

VG,
I used to have a set of those Johnathan Living Seagul style brass birds.

My Find:
My son gave me this from his trip to Jamaica. They are two 100's. They are worth about .75 each in American money! LOL I don't think I could buy even a loaf of bread with these! We are going to visit there with him one of these days and he wanted me to have these as a reminder. He loves it there... wants me to check it out.

MR - I got three of the stands. I still think they're for cigarettes. For they had like 8 -- way too many for holding umbrellas I'd think.

OOL that is a beautiful quilt! I love the soft colors you have chosen!

Martha, you get the best things! Wish you could be here this weekend when we have one of our rare estate sales and in a good 'hood! One time we went to an auction at a fraternal organization and they had skulls and skeletons etc. I got some beautiful robes.

Brenda, when are you going to be published? That room is to die for! I also like your birds!

VG, actually DH is American. We just have a place in Canada and spend a lot of time there in the summer. Last year we went in October so we could see the Fall colors.

Hiya Mary Ruth, it's my pleasure to start MMF every week. I like your finds....wish I could "find" money Smile I've never been to Jamaica but I bet it's very pretty.

Thanks for the complements on the quilt...It was definitely a process to come to the final selection - I went thru about 10 revisions before deciding on this.....

I can't wait to get it finished and on the frame.
