I havent been around alot but I do lurk at times.Enjoy seeing everyones posts.I am so excited and happy.I've been busy with my parents for a last month.Taking care of them and running erons.Next Sat.my DD graduates from college. She is my oldest, mother of a 6 & 4 yr.old.She dropped out of high school her senior year.I was so sad & disappointed but kept encouraging her.She has had some great jobs.2 1/2 yrs.ago she got her GED and signed up for college. She has been going for the last 2 yrs,to be a physicians assistant and her degree in phyboloby(sorry sp).her degree is more, not sure of the title. She has been working full time on 12 hour shifts on weekends and on Wed. at a Blood Connection,as a lab tech processing donations at blood drives.I am so proud of her.I know it was hard,we have encouraged and been there when needed.I didnt agree with her stay at home hubby, but he was wonderful keeping and teaching their kids during this time.
I just wanted to say that encouragement does pay off.I really need to get my Christmas decorations up this weekend. Thanks for listening and encouraging me to get my home ready for the holidays.Love the Christmas posts to get me motivated. This message has been edited. Last edited by: jackierenette,

Welcome back. Your pride regarding your DD's academic accomplishments and her determination to meet her goals is definitely warranted. Kudos to her and to you for standing behind her and encouraging her to fulfill her dream. I agree that as a parent this support is vital. Btw, she's wise to become a physician's assistant. Like nursing and home health care aids, the demand is growing particularly since doctors are facing major obstacles via the government. News reports predict that there is a decline in doctors and that physicians assistants will be filling this increasing shortage. A friend of mine's son recently changed his career and is now a physician's assistance. He did not desire to become a doctor due to the high cost of medical malpractice insurance.

That is wonderful, wonderful news. Your pride, love and admiration for your daughter is very evident and well-justified.
Do you mind if I share your story with my niece? She is a curriculum development specialist in biology for GED education in Maryland. She is always on the lookout for inspirational stories, especially with verifiable results.

Thank you all so much for the kind words. She is nervous and scared about walking across the stage and job offers. She is very clumsey & accident prone,LOL. The area we live in there is a lot of drop outs and teens having babies. These kids have no ambition or drive in life,no good programs to help and not many jobs. You have to drive to the next big county to find the best jobs.So HAPPY she really was listening, when I thought she wasnt.
Aychihuahau,we dont mind you retelling the story.I do love uplifting stories and know a great support system works.I know they can touch even just one person.DD has invited about 15 people to attend the cermony. She really says if only my DH,her StepDad is the only one who comes, she will be happy. He has talked, encouraged and loved her through this.I really think she wanted to prove to him she could do this, more than me
Hey Wanda, new name??My sister that mostly takes care of our parents went to Ct. for a month to help DB during heart surgery. It's 3 of us DD's that help.So I stepped in,cooked, cleaned and boy did they run me to town everyday.DM had medicine I had to pick up every other day. That was the worst.LOL.Made lists and they'd call at night saying they needed something else.I was so glad to have my sis home,so I could rest for a few days B4 Thanksgiving cooking.Got some rest and Christmas shopping done.So ready to get my home decorated now.I usually have it done at Thanksgiving. That's why I am a slacker, but this weekend it will be decorated.

Very best congratulations to your DD and all of her family. You and your DH for your encouragement, her DH for taking care of the home and children and most of all the student herself for her dedication and industry.
The health field is a good place to be now for those who are interested and capable. I wish her and all of you the very best of luck!

Always Nesting
I don't know if you remember me, Marla @ Always Nesting. I haven't been on these boards in years but I saw a familiar, friendly face and was reading your post. Wonderful news about your daughter. It isn't always easy when kids are young and they don't make good decisions. But, when they turn things around as they grow up, it's such a blessing and accomplishment. Very good news and hello after all this time.
