Our daughter and SIL are feverishly trying to get the nursery ready for their firstborn (Benjamin)...due anyday now. They painted the room, bought garage sale furniture to refinish along with a crib, chair/ottoman, and reading lamp from IKEA. They have done practically everything themselves from designing to all the sewing, refinishing, etc. Why so late in getting finished up? Because since January, they have also totally remodeled one bathroom and laid all new hardwood flooring THEMSELVES. These kids are not afraid of hard work. We can't wait for our Benjamin to make his appearance. Oooo....this grandma is soooo excited! Smile (Pics of the nursery below)

Pic 1: The abstract tree SIL painted in the corner above the crib. DD made the little baby bird mobile from scraps of fabric.

Congrats grandma. As a DIYer who's helped her DH install hardwood flooring, I commend them. This nursery shows their talents very well. I too love that tree lamp. Benjamin will be one happy baby.

What a clever couple and what a lucky little boy!

Your excitement is palpable grandma, and so understandable! These young ones are a true gift to grandparents.

How proud you must be that they have so wonderfully fixed a special room for his very own first space. But that will be nothing compared to the pride you will take in him!

Congratulations to you all.

Thank you, everyone, for the kind words and well wishes and for allowing me to share my excitement. I've dreamed of this stage of our lives, and 2 years ago we made a big move in preparation for it after living out of state for the last 36 years. We can hardly wait to see Benjamin and let him know how much he is loved!

What a great room for little Ben. Please make sure the toy box has the proper safety hinges so the lid can't slam down on the little ones head- cant remember the exact name of such hardware .
You will love being a grandparent- Enjoy!!

Thanks Wanda and Mamaspoon. Everyone says being a grandparent is one of the greatest of life experiences.

Mamaspoon, thanks for the reminder about the toybox. They had already decided to install a piano hinge or other type that wouldn't allow his little fingers to get smashed.

Have a terrific weekend all!
