HI, some fo you may remember me. i had a problem with new carpet (frieze) from Lowes'. They ARE going to replace it. We do not want frieze again and was hoping someone could guide us to what type we should look at. There are some very low pile tone on tone /cut & loops that we like. Anyone with experience on these? Also, what carpet should we purchase if we want comfort but almost no footprints? The carpeting will be going in all the upstairs bedrooms & hallways. Thanks for advice you can give....

A tone on tone cut and loop carpet can be very nice - doesn't show footprints and is soft underfoot. I have one such in the back room and it has been very nice. Big thing is to get the right padding for it.

We had the cut & loop type in our old house it doesn't show any foot prints or vacuum lines and it held up for many many years. If hiding footprints/vacuum lines is important to you then cut & loop or Berber are the way to go. Personally I love the look of vacuum lines in carpeting but then again I'm neurotic about my house being vacuumed and cleaned every day lol!
