If you HAD to use one of these (I have two each), which one would you choose?

I was TRYING to go for a British Colonial look, but unfortunately, I don't have dark furniture, nor can I change it, so it is what it is. I did get the quilt and pillows, so I guess that's all I can do for now. The chair that I bought off CL will go in here (when I get it finished).

What do you think of the lamps??

They look peachy on my 'puter, too...definitely not Blonde..Oh well..

I like the lamp on the left - because it's taller than the bedposts. The lamps on the right look too small in scale.

Your furniture is plenty dark for BC style!

I like the lamp on the left because of the height, and I'm a sucker for brass. Is the right one brass or ceramic? Hard to tell in the pic. I do like it's shade better. Perhaps you could prop it up on a book or three?

I too like the taller brass piece. Better proportion to the room and I like the shape and metallic finish.

Okay, that's three for the brass lamp Smile I had those in there first. The one on the right is glass with a brass bottom piece and they were my mother's. I took them when I cleaned out her apartment and I wasn't sure what to do with them.

I have an idea. To the right is a triple dresser with a hutch (that I hate). What if I get rid of the hutch and put the lamps on the dresser with a large mirror on the wall? Would it be strange to have different lamps so near each other?

It would absolutely not be strange to have different lamps, it would be right! So, lose the hated hutch, hang a mirror, and proudly and lovingly display your mother's lamps.

I would keep BOTH, but raise the smaller one on a basket, little stool, large books on their sides (not small or medium size books( or some such.

Ditto! Smile I also agree that the brass lamp is better scaled for a bedside lamp.

I also have to go with the lamp on the left but for more practical reasons: it's tall enough to actually shed some light. The one on the right is so low about all it would light is the floor.

Sorry but the lamp on the right, pretty as it is, is just not the right scale for the room -- it is too small.

Thanks. I'm staying with the brass lamp on the left. I'm trying to get rid of the huge hutch that belongs to the dresser and I also want to replace that picture over the bed, I just don't know what to put there. I'll take some better pics of the room, so you can all help me pull it together Smile
