Centsational Girl on her blog:

Creativity is achieved when a person pairs a passion in their heart with the knowledge in their brain, and a chosen medium, and then gives themselves permission to make something with that idea, accepting that the result could be a failure or a success.

What does it mean to you?

Several Designers give their responses... Good reading!

Interesting.

I was struck, reading the comments on this blog, by how hard it is to capture the notion of creativity.

To me, creativity is what it is. You know it and feel it when it happens. And, what may be creative to one person may be uninspired to another.

aychihuahua,
You are right, one cannot capture the meaning because it is so personal to each and everyone who feels it or experiences it.

One Art teacher I had called it becoming 'engaged' with what you are working on or photographing, etc. You are connected somehow and you hold on for the ride!

Creativity has a long and dark history, in the book The courage to create, by Rollo May. (read in college and re-read from time to time)
http://www.intuitive-connectio...ok-couragecreate.htm (some comments about book)

Interesting how 'very old thinking' got in the way of creativity, and how one needs immense courage to display and use it. The fear of ridicule and judgement is so great one must muster courage to display what creativity they have inside and bring it out for the world to view, going na**k^ed... exposed as it were. Fascinating reading for those who like to know 'how and why' things are the way they are.
