Blown glass chandeliers Sign In/Join

I've narrowed my preferred decor style down to traditional with accents of shabby/country if this makes any sense??? Anyhow years back I saw some blown glass chandeliers that caught my eye. I was reading a book last night and there was a mention of Chihuly glass so, I thought I'd google it to see what it was. There it was, the glass that caught my eye years ago!!! definitely would not go in my style of decor but to me it's just beautiful. Here's an example:

That piece would cost a couple of really large mortgages! I have only seen his work in museums. But it is striking, especially with natural sunlight passing through the glass.

That is stunning, love it. I can just imagine the price tag on that baby.

I LOVE that work with glass too! Do a blown glass search on Google and Pinterest to see even more striking blown glass! That design really started something!

BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks for posting that gorgeous chandy, mountainbeach! I'm a major Chihuly fan, glass junkie, and collector altho my budget doesn't run to *anything* that Dale Chihuly's group does! I toured the Chihuly museum in Seattle with my mouth hanging open (figuratively if not literally) the entire time! LOL

Your decor style sounds similar to mine and I think Chihuly glass would give it a nice eclectic bent.

I have to content myself with small blown art glass items altho do have one large ball that I adore.

I love Dale Chihuly. You can see some of his works at the Dallas Arboretum http://www.dallasarboretum.org/chihuly/

The show has been held over until Dec. 30 by popular demand.

A company called VIZ Art Glass out of California creates fabulous Chihuly-style hand blown glass art pieces at reasonable prices; well, reasonable compared to what it would cost to commission a Chihuly. The boutique I worked at some years back carried VIZ products.

About a hour or two from my home is a wonderful art glass studio called Wimberley Glass Works. http://www.wgw.com
We visited recently and enjoyed seeing the glass blowing demonstration and ogling the gallery.

Glad to know there are others that find these pieces interesting, my hubby didn't. I bet if he knew how much each was selling for he'd have me in the garage trying my hand at blowing glass, lol.
