and not in a good way. I got my rug that I fell in love with. I know computer monitors are off on colors somewhat but geez!!! My monitor shows ivory, tan, beige, green, and rust. I unroll it and it's yellow, brown, green and red. The flower shapes look cartoonish compared to the online picture. Don't know if I like it enough to keep it. It was free shipping and I can return it to the store but what a big dissapointment. I hate ordering online anything, it seldom looks like what I expect
Got a couple pics of it, and it has to be my monitor. It looks like something I could live with in the pics, but in person it is yellow. I got the right one because it was the only color in that style. If it's not something I love it's gotta go back, I'm just sad that it didn't look like what my monitor shows it as.
2nd pic: it looks alot better in pics than in person. This looks close to the online sites pic. This message has been edited. Last edited by: mountainbeach,
So sorry it was a disappointment. This is why I never advise ordering rugs on line. Not only do you see colors first hand, but the quality of the rug is readily apparent too. Glad yours includes free shipping, but it's still a hassel. I recommend that if you find a rug you love on line, then try to find it locally. Often rug retailers will permit you to try on approval for a day or two which is another advantage. Keep the faith that the perfect rug is waiting for you to discover it, mountainbeach. Do carry color references with you when you shop knowing that retail lighting most likely varies from your room's lighting.

You're right is looks so much different than the website picture. The flowers are poorly rendered. The yellow background color looks like a failed attempt to clean up after something peed on the rug and the gray looks like accumulated dirt.
You are right, computer monitors, photographs, print in catalogues and books...they all distort color, as does the light present in your space. ALmost impossible to pick color unless you see it first hand in your own space.
Thought I'd share my current area rug. I bought it 10+ years ago at Sears in the discount pile for $99. It is the first & only one I've ever owned and is really showing it's age around the edges. I just love the colors in it, and it was the first item I bought for our livingroom. Everything else just sorta fell in place around it. Thanks for all the support, I know I'll eventually find another that I'll like just as much.
I have bought only two rugs online. We were lucky the first time: the rug was spectacular, even better than the pictures. We had it about 15 or so years and eventually sold it at consignment.
The second cost a bloody fortune. It could never shake off the roll marks and so it never lay smooth on the floor. We gave up and eventually donated it to Habitat.
We went out today and I looked at the store. I should've just done that to begin with, I came home with the names of 7 that I really liked. Lesson learned but, now I have to choose
