Just want to say Thanks! I have this cross-stitch picture picked up for $1 at a yard sale. The previous frame and mat was terrible. The stitchwork is not a standard size. So, I followed the advice from here and put it in the smallest standard size frame, and then had a custom-size mat cut. I wanted something simple-looking, that had a unpolished look to it given the subject matter, where it's going, where I live, etc. The custom mat was $10. The frame was 50% at Hobby Lobby. I put the picture outside to take a picture of it. (That tropical print is the glider outside.) | |||

The added bonus in your case is that the colorful mat sets off the art beautifully. | ||||
