What can I do with this door window? Sign In/Join

I would like to make our door a bit less transparent. It is nice that it lets all of the light in but I'm not so big on every neighbor being able to see in our main living area when they walk by. Other than replacing the door what can I do with the window in it?

I would probably use a frosted or privacy type window film. That way you will still have the light, just not the complete transparency. Check around in the hardware stores and you will find window film. It is easy to install yourself, and looks good. I would do the side windows as well as the door.

If you are willing to go to the expense, you could have the glass replaced with colored pieces. That's what I did with the window over my sink. I also have white frosted panes in my bathroom window. It gets plenty of light.

I like the idea of the frosted film. It's not that expensive.

I use translucent window film I bought at Lowe's and I am sure HD sells it too. You put it on by wetting it in warm water and applying dishwashing liquid with water on a CLEAN window (directions are supplied). It stays on after it is dry and then can be peeled off by grabbing one corner and just peel off. Can also be reapplied just as easy.
Good luck with your project! I did the same with my last home to diffuse view but not the light.

Although it seems you're set back back abit from street/ sidewalk,if you feel the neighbors are interested in what you do inside, then try the translucent film, as it is removable and not costly. That's a lovely door.

If you need only night time privacy, I would use a roman shade so that it can be kept up during the day and pulled down at night.

I just put window film on my paladian window and it worked great. You can get the spray to apply it in the same place you get the film. It comes in alot of sizes.
