I happened upon this blog (www.cotedetexas.blogspot.com) and have been hooked ever since. Just prior to finding Joni's blog I ordered a Lee Slipcovered Sectional and seeing she's a lover of white/ivory slipcovers, I think she may have unearthed my inner french style in me. Thankfully, I live in a small space and have elements to her decor style, so with a few changes I like the direction I'm heading in. As I sit here with paint chips on the walls (see the trouble I've found myself in - LOL) I can't help but think back on my decor style. With our first home I went french country, then we moved which provoked a more farmhouse country style and now in our new place, I'm really drawn to the french style with certain elements; slip covered furniture, very light walls, seagrass rugs, gold accent pieces mixed with antiques. I've always been a fan of beige and ivory colors and would hands down take texture tone on tone fabrics over color any day of the week which is why I think her style speaks to me.

So I'd say in the past 15 years this will be my third decorating style. I'm one that loves change when it comes to decor and wonder how many "phases" (cause maybe that's just what this is) have you been through? Have you been through it in the same house or has it changed place to place?

I love the rustic mixed with elegance. Pretty, simple, not over the top.

Sunny Daze, I've never had the funds to redecorate completely like some people do. However, in some ways, my budget constraints have saved me from jumping on every trend that comes along when I get inspired by blogs, magazines, marketplace finds, etc. I do change out pillows and accessories, but the furniture, rugs and window treatments stay in place. Of course, until I moved to my current house, I had been moving every 3 - 5 years, so I guess I had the chance to sort of redecorate with each move. Even though I was still using the same furnishings, they looked different in each new environment.

I've been following Cote de Texas for a while now. I like it best when it features houses decorated in styles other than what Joni calls Houston style because honestly, I'm tired of that look. It's pretty, but there's not enough color. I need lots of color in my surroundings. Big Grin

I have subscribed to her blog and can only take so much white washed screen (photos like all in a cloud after a while). IT is well written as far as her comments and sharing history of styles and the people she features. Love the Reece Withespoon ranch article.

She (Joni)didn't always decorate like this, I used to visit her first blog (when she used to post here) and it was Shabby Chic. She sure has graduated to other styles.

She is also changing her style again currently and applying more black and other colors will follow.
You see design is an evolution, not stagnant
"Decorating is autobiography.
- Gloria Vanderbilt, The World of Gloria Vanderbilt"
People who LOVE Decorating and Design (and Artists) seek evolution to keep themselves in the aura and excitement of the craft.

Joni is one of the lucky ones who found her love in life and has found a way to fund it and keep it going!

Sunny Daze - if you like Cote De Texas, you might like to read www.brookegianneti.typepad.com She writes "Velvet and Linen". She and her husband, who is an architect, are into that style. Also you should read up on Axel Vervoordt, the Belgian antiques dealer/designer who really started the whole look.

Also wanted to say that Joni's blog is one of the most interesting blogs out there. I read it too when I have time.
