A co-workers sister was selling this and asked him to post it on our companies intranet to sell... I saw it and snapped it up right away... she was asking $225, I gave $200. I have been searching for an old farm table look for our basement, something rustic with character...

I bought this table with 6 chairs for $200 Dh has striped the table and this is what it looks like with a coat of stain on it!

It is soild pine and is stamped Ethan Allen 1968, would this be worth something?

I LOVE your table, it reminds me of mine a little. I got my table from a wonderful neighbor that was moving. When I got it, it was stained and very shiny, looked very country. The chairs that came with it were horrible. So, I stripped the table, threw out the chairs and bought new ones. I just put a matte poly on it after stripping.

Here is a pic

I LOVE that table! It looks a lot like our DR table, which we got at a consignment store for $300 (no chairs). Ours is dark oak, sort of varnished (good for kids' purposes), and has two leaves.

I do love a trestle table - the chair placement is so much easier.

Good job!

I found the same one on ebay with the original chairs (I like our better, a little less 'dated" a little more "country" or rustic) asking $800...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item...=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=004

That is what it looked like prior to striping.

Ok next question, the chairs we have are oak (I'll post an original pic) so to stain them to match (pine and oak) might be hard to achieve the same color... what about staining the chairs black, and leaving the seats oak, or staining the whole chair black????

That looks just like it! Is yours Ethan Allen too?

The one on ebay (I posted a link) has the original chairs) I like the ones you have!

Looks beautiful! I find it exciting to get a good deal or make something looks awesome!
