I know someone here suggested I check thrift stores etc for a lamp base...

Well I hadn't been in a goodwill or salvation army in probably a year or so and I knew if I went "looking" for a lamp, I wouldn't find anything.

SO I went in real quick yesterday to the goodwill near my house and what did I see??? A cute white ceramic table lamp...even though I wasn't looking for white for the living room and it was probably a little too short for that area...I'm thinking I may go back and get it for my bedroom ($7.99) what the heck!!

You think if I take a light bulb with me they will let me plug it in to make sure it works??

Most thrift stores around my area, have plug-ins to let customers check items. So yes I think you can.Even if you asked them, they might even have a bulb to check it.

You can even spray paint that lamp any color.Aqua, pretty yellow or any color color as you change decor...Wink Does it have a lamp shade? If not most stores sell them seperatly for a few bucks.

well I went back and rescued that cute white table lamp I saw at goodwill.

It is about a foot tall and about 6.5 inches wide. I guess I will have to take it with me to the store to try shades for it.

The measurements I referred to above are the measurements of the jar itself.

cute lamp! And you can still paint on it even though it is white (or leave white). Check out the Martha Stewart line of paints at Michael's. I used the translucent glass paint but there is also a line of opaque colors.

I like the shape of the base. GREAT find!

Just some thoughts on your lamp which I love the shape and color of. You also need a harp. The height of it will determine how much or little of that neck portion shows. I would prefer a short harp so the shade would nearly hide that area, but I have seen pictures of that type of lamp with a good deal of the neck showing. I am including a picture of a harp so you'll know what I am talking about.

Do you think that you might want to freshen that neck area with some white paint if you are going to allow it to show?

I have a hard time finding any harp less than 8 inches. You could use a shade that fits over the bulb for a lower profile if you don't like the harp.
