DD always says that buying home furnishings at tag sales, auctions, or finding them on the street etc. makes for interesting stories about how your home came to be what it is.
I thought of this the other day in photographing this plate wall.
Some of the canton plates over this closet came from an auction house that had a stage to display things. Others came from an auction at a house Bette Davis had once lived in. There is a flow blue plate I paid a dollar for at a nearby yard sale. Some others I have no memory of buying at all!
This is the run of plates that lost three to a clumsy furnace man. DH bought me one to replace one that got broken and I filled in with two others. The piece at the bottom was a gift from a friend of DD's.
Sadly I can't replace the one that had DD's name on it along with a cat which is her favorite animal.
Always a treat to see your blue beauties, Emily! I would love to enjoy a fine meal at a restaurant that served meals on an eclectic mix of blue plate specials.
