Here's a sample of a swing arm that Froo mentioned that I have on my back deck. These only extend out about 1 1/2 feet each to frame the area, not completely enclose it but it is easy to just unscrew the end and slide the curtains off. This example is a doorway bead curtain I was unable to sell at my garage sale so I just cut it in half and framed my eating area on the deck. This was a swing arm I had from another project a few years ago -- I got it at Joann Fabric on sale for $6 for the pair.
I went to the electrical aisle at Home Depot and bought a ten foot metal (aluminum? Steel?) rod for $4.OO, the brackets were $1.98 each. I found taupe polyester machine washable panels with grommet tops at Home Godds for $25. per pair so my deck has a very cool looking sun screen for around $58.00.

Bought a 10ft 1" copper pipe, attached end caps and angle, then hung it on a gate hanger so it swings back and forth, then hung outdoor grommet curtains. They remove easily for washing. This message has been edited. Last edited by: zone9alady,
