Painted floor in hall
I have a long, dark hallway in my upstairs. The walls are painted BM Wheeling Neutral. I painted the floors a kind of carmel color and it looks terrible. Any suggestions as to what might look good? Thinking not too dark, there is not much natural light. Thank you.

What kind of flooring material did you paint? Hardwood?

Can you post a picture?

I am not able to post pictures from my computer right now, but I can try later. It is hardwood, previously painted, so that is why I repainted it.

How about painting it lighter and then stencil a pattern on it.
Is it an older home? What year was it built?

The house is 100 years old. What light color do you think I could paint the floor? I am kind of disappointed with the Wheeling Neutral, in some of the space, it takes on a neon greenish tint. Love the stencil idea, not sure if I have the skill though. Thank you for your response.

Why not a white? You can look at samples of whites in the paint you are buying. Just do not go with BRIGHT white, go with a off white on the brown side or gray side. Light gray would look good too.

Tape off squares or diamonds and paint them off-white. Then, sand off some of the paint to simulate wear and tear, antique glaze or urethane for a nice finish. Very age appropriate, not to mention...cool!

My home, like yours is over 100 years old and I have lots of painted floors including our long upstairs hall.

Ours happens to be green (with white walls) I like the color but really painting is so easy that it would not be difficult to change the color. Cocok on another thread has suggested painting large pieces of cardboard or something like that (maybe 3' X 4') with several different colors you like to help in making up your mind.
