Has anyone ever painted a railing on a staircase?
We decided on our wood floors and are ready to sign on the dotted line and get the wood ordered. The wood will go in the entrance hall and throughout the kitchen and eating area, etc. But yesterday I was moving the sample piece of wood from one spot in the house to the other and I realized that the very very very light wood color on our banister/railings on our staircase will really clash with the dark wood floors we chose. I have been googling like crazy and found some pictures on Houzz...but I'm wondering if any of you have painted your railings? It seems logical that we would just prime the wood, then paint it with like a dark brown/black paint....I would think it might look something like this when finished.

When I re-stained my wood floors my railing no longer looked right with the new floor color. I had the newel posts and spindles painted, and then had the hand railing stained to match the new floors. The treads were also stained the floor color.

Came back with a not great picture that was in my files, but it shows you how things turned out.
