Pottery Barn spams me twice a day but I don't usually mind. Today they offered me to "Fall in 'heart' with Autum" and I thought, they don't have to ask me twice.

I am in love with all the autumn colors. I think many of you all here are too. Smile I'm not a horror halloween person but I guess it's all a part of the season.

what are your favorite holiday/ season color schemes.

Well, I pretty much love all the colors that go with all the holidays, love red, white, greens, blues, silvers, pinks, gold (well you name it for christmas and I love it). I love red, pink and white for valentines day, pastels for easter, warm colors for fall. Not all of the colors go with my home decor but I don't really care, I just have fun with it.

I adore Fall colors too from vibrant jewel tones to dusty hues, from rich golds, pumpkins and plums to more muted earth tones of rusts and olives, I am a sucker for those color families along with regal burgundies and reds(btw, ox blood is one of this upcoming Fall's colors).

Oxblood sounds like an interesting color, i'd like to see. I'm looking forward to the cooler weather. I'm ready for the next season on the calendar.

I agree, VictorianGirl, i love all the colors, all at once sometimes too. Smile

There are few colors I dislike and I use whatever holiday colors seem appropriate at the time. I love fall weather and fall colors and tweak my decor throughout that season. For me fall decorating starts in September as soon as the weather starts feeling cooler, then I add some things for Thanksgiving (celebrated in October by Canadians), then Halloween decor is added for about a week, then it's back to more generic fall stuff again. My fall decor is up for almost 2 months and is packed away when it's time for Christmas decor to come out.

I'm one who also doesn't care whether the seasonal color matches my decor altho since I've 'neutralized' the general color scheme it all gets along fairly well. I was just looking thru my pics from last year which were fairly neutral.

I like to do the nature/weather season changes without any "holiday" stuff. So, over the years, I've given thought to what is nature/weather vs. "holiday".

Fall, winter, and spring/summer are my updates.

Since we're now in a different house, I'm having fun trying to figure out what and where to change out things.

Porches and tabletop for sure, but since my home is already in Fall colors, not sure how to bring in "more" fall. That's a change from our last home.

I love changing things for the weather seasons.

I loved Fall colors in New England for a lot of years. BUT in Florida, they are dark and moody type colors. I know the lighting has a lot to do with the view of the color scheme. We have Croton plants that grow in Florida that give off some fall leaf colors if we want to be reminded of them!
Oak trees and Maples are in the areas around our development so we get to see leaves fall and get raked up (by the landscape company.) No shoveling or raking for us!

Have a wonderful FALL season! Enjoy! I have fond memories of the beautiful foliage and our long road trips to view the beautiful colors in such places as Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire.

For us, our hibernating period is during the summer where we spend less time out of doors in the bright hot sun. But we are about to emerge as we are facing our Spring like weather with short winter through till next summer.

We had our heat on last year for at least two to three weeks and have one day to a week of frost warnings for our sensitive plants.

So, for us... means WINDOWS-OPEN-weather soon!

I love most colors. It is hard to start using autumn decor in September here in SoCal, though, because September weather is usually quite warm. In fact, we don't really cool down until Halloween or later. It seems like I switch from summer decor straight into holiday decor. We don't have much of a spring season either.

I love fall decorating, probably because it's the easiest since I have fall colors in my home already.

I'm with you, Graciepj, and Mary Ruth, it's still summer-hot out here in the far east bay. I'm probably as close to Stockton as I am to San Francisco.

Looking at the fall colors make me dream happy thoughts of sweater weather and pumpkin pie.

Autumn has always been my favorite season, perhaps because I am an autumn baby and grew up in the Northeast. But, seriously, what's not to like about the richness of the colors, the changing quality of the light and the crisp coolness.

Even here in Texas, where we have two seasons -- hot and hotter -- we do have a short-lived autumn season, usually starting in mid to late October through the end of November. It is so precious a time, because it won't last long.

I have always had earthy, autumn colors in my home and expect I will continue to do so.

ETA: Thought I would share an image from Texas-based artist Maxine Price, called "Dancing on the Water." It's a landscape that captures the evanescent quality of autumn leaves reflected in the waters of the Guadalupe River.

I like the colors in your canvas, aychihuahua, do you have her art in your house?

Seems like autumn colors are 'comfort colors' to me, like eating something yummy and cinnaminny with whipped cream. Big Grin

Not yet. Gotta save my pennies. My favorite artist is pastel artist Jean Hirons, who is also a family friend. I have to budget very carefully for her original works. I've got one so far. Here's a shout-out: http://www.jeanhirons.com/mainpages/home.html
