I have fallen in love with this cabinet and the description says it's "dark brown". My new dining room table is black and I want the cabinet to go in the same room.

It looks black to me...customer service doesn't have any further info and the image doesn't have a zoom function. Frown

Is this going to look stupid?

I sold the little, round table a while ago and bought a slightly larger, oval, black table. I also ordered fully upholstered chairs (I had http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1634079532/m/8741024563] a chair thread that was going for about two weeks, trying to make up my mind!). Smile

I'm sorry, I remember now. Since you posted that I saw your small table from Ballards and wall admiring it again. Are you using the same area for your new furniture?

I would buy it because it is beautiful. I also love the Bernhardt chair that you posted in the other topic. It looks like we have some similarity in tastes.

I would buy it as well I think it's a beautiful piece. I remember your chair post and loved all of your options. You have beautiful taste! I can't wait to see your room done. If the new piece is a really dark brown I don't think it will clash at all, if it's a light brown (in the photo it looks black) you could always have it painted I think it would be worth it because the piece is so lovely.

Very rarely do i ever open a thread, and when the image pops up I go, "Oh my...!" I am in serious lust for that case piece. It is like mine, only way better. It is stunningly pictured, too.

To answer you question, YES, I believe black and wood tones of any kind can be combined- I think it is interesting, not so contrived. I have distressed black pieces (like the hutch below), dark mahogany, and Ikeas' "black-brown". Some may not like the mish-mash, but I don't mind.

Feel free to buy me that case piece though.
