Some of you asked me to post pictures of our place in Canada. I'm FINALLY getting around to doing it. Sorry it's taken me so many years This is where I am when Beau's Rose is kind enough to keep MMF going for me.
Some of these pictures were taken last month and some were taken in October of last year. It's easy to see which ones because the Fall colors were amazing.
Unfortunatly, we're only able to spend about 3 weeks a year here. However, after retirement we'll make it about 3 months a year.
I'm going to post all the pics first ( I have a lot) and then go back and put a caption on them. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Skyler,
2) This is the guest house. It is directly behind the main house. It's nice because it has a full bathroom and mini kitchen so guests have a lot of privacyThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Skyler,
4) Fireplace. Always nice when it's a little too cold to be out on the lake. I love to sit here with a book and a cup of hot coco. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Skyler,
5) Main house. You can see the rock wall through the window so that gives you an idea where the guest house is in relation to itThis message has been edited. Last edited by: Skyler,
11) Oh no......it's a great white shark I found this guy when DH and I were walking along the shore. He looked just like a shark to me. DH drilled the holes in him and made the two stands. I added the candles and we named him Arthur, lol
You can even see the bite marks where a beaver had been gnawing. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Skyler,
14) A man and his raft! Dh relaxing. Not another boat on the lake....you don't see THAT in California! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Skyler,
Absolutely beautiful place. You are a lucky woman.

I would have to agree
You lucky gal, right on the water too. Beautiful spot. It looks like a cottage too, not a town house.
Isn't there anymore cottages around you? looks like you have the lake to yourselves.
Our fall colors are beautiful arn't they?

OH, CANADA!
What a gorgeous setting. Which part of the country is your home in?

Thank you friends!
VG, yes we do have many cottages around us. Fortunately they're well spaced and with all the Birch and Maple trees we have a lot of privacy. Yep, your fall colors are spectacular!
Aychihuahua, we are in Ontario....very, very far north on Lake Lauzon.
Do you have a caretaker for the gardens and to clean before you arrive? It is beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing it with us! I can see why you love it.

I thought so. Your pictures did not look like the western provinces.
What a great location!! Enjoy your dream home.

Daciab, we do have someone that opens and closes the cabin for us every year. Basically, they put in/ take out the dock, boats, hook up the water line, gets the power on, etc.
Believe it or not, the garden takes care of itself . We do have someone mow the grass regularly but the flowers are on their own. That would never work here in CA because we don't get enough rain. However, up there the flowers do okay (some years better than others depending on rainfall). I have great plans for the garden when I'm there for 3 months This message has been edited. Thank you so much for sharing your pictures, Skyler. You are truly blessed to have such wonderful properties on the water. Those views are beautiful. I'm not sure I could leave after three weeks. I would be tempted to stay forever, although I'm sure it's quite cold in the winter.

Aychihuahua, wow that's interesting that you could identify where we might be based on the pictures. Unfortunately, since our time up there is so short I haven't had the opportunity to explore other provinces. One day!! Thank you, it is a dream home for us.
Thank you Gracie! You motivated me to get my butt in gear and get these posted
It really is hard to leave after 3 weeks but you're right, it does get cold. The cabin isn't winterized so we couldn't stay if we wanted to. Brrrrrr! Upon retirement, we'll spend July, August, Sept. and part of Oct. there. Nice to get out of the California heat.

You are so right about the California heat. I would love to spend July through October in a cooler climate and enjoy autumn. That's the one season I really miss living in SoCal.

Skyler, that is truly a little piece of heaven on this earth. I know you and hubby enjoy any time you can get away to this peaceful place. I love it. There is nothing more beautiful than nature's canvas. Your place proves that.

I love my time in Canada when I go home to Nova Scotia. For me any less than 6 weeks is too short a stay. I always feel like I should go for months (I used to when I was younger, go for the whole summer).
Such a nice place you have Skyler! And I can just smell and feel the fresh air on your patio! What a wonderful place!

What a wonderful cottage and the lake is gorgeous- bet the fishing is great as well. Do you drive or fly and if you drive how long does it take to get there? You have the best of both worlds. I would never call you dorkyThis message has been edited. Last edited by: mamaspoon,

Thank you my sweet decorating friends. I'm glad I was able to share with you all.
Mamaspoon, we actually do both....fly and drive. The hardest part about the cabin is how difficult it is to get there. We fly to Detroit, rent a car and drive 2hrs before we stop for the night. The next day we drive 6-7 hrs until we finally get to the cabin. It's a two day trip. When we retire, we will drive the entire way because we'll need a car.
Our neighbors up there live in Northern California and they drive. They take their time and I believe they said it took them a week to get there (not sure how many hrs a day they drove).
Wow, great escape! Never would have pictured you way out east, though, you west coast girl! Your cottage is almost due north from where I live in Michigan and you probably fly over on your way into Metro...wave next time!
