...how do I keep the darn thing in place? Like I said, I love it...it's a Waverly fabric in a gold cotton floral (website called it "Tea stain", but it's gold) and it's exactly the cottagy look I wanted but keeping it tucked is a never ending job. I've tried the rolled up magazine trick, which works to a degree in the back, but because it's longer than my sofa, there's lots of extra fabric tucked into the sides and the mags don't work. I'm thinking lots of giant safety pins! Whacha think?

I bought a set of these: http://www.surefit.net/shop/ca...cessories-tuck-once/ They helped some, but I still had to re-tuck if we lounged on the furniture.

I don't know if this is an option for your or not, depending on the slipcover and the placement of your sofa, but a friend of mine had a stretch slipcover she was putting on a chair in her bedroom and we took all the extra fabric in the back and TIED it up in order to make it nice and snug.

Her chair was angled in a corner of her room so the back of the chair and extra tied up fabric wasn't seen.

Hello Belstone. Seems to me, I've heard that you could put something like a broom handle down the back. I'm thinking of those noodles too that you use in the pool? Seems I heard to use those somewhere too. Seem like they'd be too big but perhaps you could cut them smaller?

Do you have any pics of it your new cover? would love to see it.

I have a similiar dilemma w/ a stretchy wing recliner slipcover. Here's some tips I found on the Net but have yet to try...

Anchor your slipcover with a rolled-up magazine

Take a heavy magazine, roll it up and secure it with rubber bands about every two inches or so. This homemade tool is the most clever, least expensive and most popular tool known to readymade slipcover users. Simply jam it into the crevices between the seat and arm and all along the back of the seat cushions to create an anchor-like effect on your slipcover. Alternative anchors include wooden dowels, PVC pipe, and even pool noodles!

Here ya go, VG! It actually looks better in my living room...really. I have taller back cushions and a little smaller sofa than the one in the picture so mine's cuter. The only real disappointment is that because the color is so gold, my rug doesn't work so I'll be looking for a new rug. Such a problem...LOL!

Thanks for all the suggestions, ladies...the one I might try is the rug grip idea. As I said, the magazine trick works okay in the back but not the sides. I'm still considering pins...

as MM suggested. I used the pvc pipe on mine and once in place-- never had a problem.

well....since Dh is currently converting the attic to a bath I actually have some pvc laying around, maybe I'll give it a try...thanks!

I had my LL couch covered at one time, and I had the same problem. I used rolled up magazines. They worked, except when kids are rough on the furniture. I hope the PVC pipe works for you though!

ok...my neighbors solution definately wont work with your slipcovers.

Belstone, where did you get your slip overs? Love the waverly fabric. Am looking for a slipcover and my sofa has small wings and it's hard to find a slipcover to accommodate them.

Hi mamaspoon...got it at Surefit and I happened on a sale! Woo hoo. There's plenty of extra fabric on my sofa, but it's on the small side...the slipcover is supposed to cover about 72 inches of seating and mine's only about 65 inches wide (cushions, not overall), but I'm not sure the wings on yours could be accomodated? Not sure I've ever seen a sofa slipcover with wings...good luck!

Belstone, I love the gold color but I love golds and yellows. What a bummer that you have to go shopping for a new rug

I think I'd add some solid toned pillows on it too in green or red. That would tone down all that gold some if you find it too much. Very pretty.

I have red pillows and a green throw on it right now...the pillows I had, the throw I bought new. The pillows are place holders for now as I'd like to add another pattern or two if I can find something that works. I'm thinking a smaller print, maybe a plaid, check or stripe. I have two cane and wicker chairs with red ticking cushion covers that are okay, but I might change them out, too.

B, plaid, check or stripe, any of them would work well in the right colors. I like the full flounce on the cover, doesn't look like they skimped on fabric, which is good.

Your slipcover is very pretty! I love the style and it makes the sofa look comfy and cozy.
