We could both see and hear a cruise ship leaving the harbor. It was so weird. First of course is the really loud mournful horn.

We went out on our upper side porch and it was very foggy, then DH said he could hear the ships engines. Then we could see the lights (the ship, Jewel of the Sea, Norwegian cruise lines, is 105 feet tall.) Finally we could hear the loudspeaker on the ship itself. The captain (?) talking to the passengers about the hurricane etc.

DH says the fog carries sound. It was quite loud and if not for traffic we could have heard everything said.

Don't know what this portends for the weather ahead but it is going to be interesting.

Everyone stay safe!

My MIL in Long Island NY said to me today:
NOT one bird flying, not a sound outside... so quiet, she said it was eerie. I remember this when Hurricane Andrew hit South Florida. I was outside and noticed it was so quiet... then I looked on the ground... NOT even one ant could be seen!

Nature knows when a storm is coming!

How cool is that LOS. Would love to live that close to the ocean. I'm going on a cruise in a month and a half. WooHoo!!

One cruise that I would love to go on is the New England Cruise. I want to go on the one that leaves out of NY and goes into Canada. Some day I hope. : )

I am going out to check on this. Yesterday I said to DH, "wonder what the birds AP says?"

Lilsophie, that was the cruise the Jewel was on. It is supposed to be wonderful.

I hope you don't have any damage as a result of the storm.

In my last house, I could hear the fog horn from the buoy in the harbor. I miss that.

Hope they know not to go outdoors after the first winds blow by & the world seems still. That's the eye of the storm. The winds will return from the other direction....
