Hey! How are your projects going? I did get the garden mostly done. (yay!) last week... and posted about it. I need to replace a few plants (we had a couple of days in the 90s and I hadn't watered well enough) and get some seeds planted. I also have a few more plant markers to paint. I'm going to try to get started on building the mudroom in a box (finally!) and call to get someone to install the new ceiling fan in the family room. Hoping to get a lot done this week! So how about you? Can't wait to hear what you are working on!

Happy Monday TQ. Your garden project looks great. I especially like the plant markers. As for me, The vegetables have been put up but more will be ready in the next few days. This is an ongoing project every year. We seem to work in the vegetable garden until the middle of July. We have been b*l*e*s*s*e*d with some much needed rain which is making everything grow, especially the weeds, so I've been busy in the vegetable and flower gardens pulling them out. I did accomplish cleaning off my screened porch and haven't decided if I want to re-paint or just throw a rug over it for another year. We are having a pool company resurface our cool deck and one project seems to lead to another so now we have decided the pool fence needs repainting. DH and I are doing this ourselves plus adding some new fence sections to other areas of the yard. Hopefully we will have this project completed before company on the 30th. I'm not accomplishing much on the inside other than keeping it clean and tidy. Usually happens about this time every year so you can definitely say I'm a distracted decorator Have a great day

we are working on a total gut and remodel master bath. Almost to the finish line. Slow and easy. LOL

i also need to get out in the yard, but the quilt frame keeps sucking me in and won't let it go.... Latest project... ~~~becca~~~~

Pretty quilt! I painted the foyer (and am still doing the happy dance over it!) and really hope to finish the short hall and the long living room wall this weekend. This chore has been made sooooooo much easier with our decision to rip out the dining room walls! Also, I would really like to make a decision on my commode cabinet. Looked at stencils yesterday but couldn't find what I wanted. Does anyone have an online place to buy stencils?

out on a limb, that quilt in your frame brings back memories, whenever I put a quilt up my husband would come in and say' boy we'll be eating slim till that's out of the frame'. I can't set long enough to hand quilt in a large frame like that anymore because of back problems but I now do free motion quilting on my sewing machine and I like it better. Wanda

goldiesmom...i used to be able to do school work at home, but not since i set up my quilt frame!! I could sit and quilt the entire day away!! ~~~becca~~~~

out on a limb, I am so happy for you that you love quilting like you do! It is relaxing and I miss sewing, but have other projects going. I am not as good as you are with straight seams and good corners! I wonder how sitting at the quilt frame affects your back and shoulders? Pins and a magnetic seam gauge are my best friend for keeping straight seams and square corners!! LOL!!! No back and shoulder aches & pains.....yet....Although, you guys have made me contemplate how to raise my frame so that I don't have to bend over so much and stay straighter... ~~~becca~~~~

Cara Rose, I want to gut our bath and start from scratch. That is a huge project you have undertaken. But the largest problem is convincing DH it needs to be done The quilt is beautiful. It brings back so many memories of my grandmother. She quilted by hand. Her quilting frame took up one entire room in her tiny home. I'm not sure if she sewed any of her quilts by machine, maybe the squares. I miss her but I still have her quilts to remember her by. I never appreciated all the work put in one while she was alive. I wish now I had thanked her more.

out on a limb, Alternate your quilt frame. The frame too low will give lower back pain, the frame too high will give shoulder and neck stress (your head weighs approx 9 to 12 lbs) so by alternating, each time you switch out the frame to move the quilt or with each new quilt place it differently you won't be stressing the same muscles all the time and the tired ones will get a break. My therapist told me this while I was recovering from repair-surgeries this past few years, I have been through therapy at least 10 times (6 months and longer) each time. So, I have learned to vary my motions, even sitting at the computer requires repositioning, getting up, stretching, walking and then coming back. Thanks Georgia Peach. I will definitely post before during and after pics when we are all finished. Right now we are waiting for our handyman to come do the glass tile around the tub, since that is one thing we have never tackled. We had a huge damaging storm here a month or so ago and he is still repairing peoples roofs and homes, so when he is finished those he will get to do out tile. After that it is a matter of dh, reglazing the old tub. Then finished. Ah,....
|
CaraRose, explain more about the tile around the bathtub..glass blocks? Has anyone ever painted or papered around a tub, then mounted some sort of glass over it? I saw this in a magazine.
|
vixenhouse, we are tiling around our tub (house built in 1925) original tub....The tile is made of glass and it is small tiles fitted together in a 12 x 12 piece. The tiles are in a couple of different neutrals colors of tans, creams, etc. I will locate a picture of them so you all can see. Thanks for asking.

It's been so fun to read about all your projects! Sorry I haven't commented much. RL gets in the way.

I don't come here often like I used to, but wanted to post that we are redecorating our kitchen. It's strictly cosmetic but drastic and long overdue. I plan to make a thread with pics when we are finished. I am so excited to finally have this finished. We are doing this on a shoestring budget. We don't know if we will sell in a few years or stay. If we stay, we will gut and totally redo. But for now, well...I couldn't stand my "trailer" kitchen anylonger and something had to be done. At this point the stove is in the middle of the floor disconnected, we are waiting for the countertop paint to "cure". This is day 2 of 3 days....so the kitchen is pretty much unuasable... But I think I might make it....All that is left to do is put up the backsplash and paint the walls once we are able to put things back together again. It will be a big change from oak cabinets with horrible country pink countertops and red walls to white cabinets, black coutertops, white backsplash and pale yellow walls.

Sounds good...looking forward ro pics!

CaraRose! Sounds lovely, I have seen some tiles like that and wanted to use them as an accent strip in our Master bath redo down the road (too many projects going on now to even think of my bath! lol) Becky! Can't wait to see pictures too, sounds like you thought it through and will have a great updated look! This message has been edited.
