Help - Color Scheme for our new Rental Sign In/Join

I need help choosing a color scheme for the living room of our new rental home (our first house - very exciting).

The problem is that the focal point is a fireplace with green marble tile with a brick base covered by black granite slab. The mantle is made of an orangey wood (similar to the hardwood floors). And the adjacent kitchen is pink. See picture.

So we've got green, brick, black, orange, and pink - a very difficult color combination! I don't need everything to be too matchy-matchy but I'm having a hard time finding colors that don't fight with the existing elements in the room. Any suggestions? Thank you!

That's a lovely home you are renting.

I'm not sure what you are asking: a paint color scheme for the walls or accessories only.

The colors of the fireplace, IMO, are subtle enough that they won't have much of an impact on your color scheme.

Why don't you paint over the pale pink/peach in the kitchen to match the the living room walls, so you have a consistent wall color. That artificial color break on the kit/LR wall doesn't look very appealing and makes the wall look choppy.

Given the abundance of wood and other natural materials, plus what seems to be beautiful, light-filled and leafy views from your window, you might want to consider an earthy brown-green scheme. What about pulling accent colors from your area rug?

Great ideas that aychi (sorry I didn't remember the whole spelling) said Wink

A few live potted plants/trees would tie into her suggestions as well.

I agree with aychihuahua

"A few live potted plants/trees would tie into her suggestions as well." I also agree with CJO's statement.

Great house, congrats!

How much will your landlord allow you to do?

That is an interesting combination of materials on the fireplace!
