I was just thinking the other day that I wished I had kept the table that matched my chairs...

I just ran across this table/chairs on CL and I'm pretty sure its the same set. It's a pine set.

When I bought MY table/chairs, I was bacially buying the chairs and the lady threw in the table because the top of the table had these big deep scratches. I had used the table and then bought the current oak one I'm using.

This is my dining room currently with my chairs and and oak table...

Here is a link to the CL ad of the pine table and chairs.

You like the oak table better than the matching table?

Do you think because of the contrast in wood between the table and the chairs?

It does look like the table does match your chairs. I love the pine table with your pine chairs.

I like the idea of the matching table to my chairs and I would like extra chairs even though I really don't need 10 chairs total..but if I could get the set cheap enough...

But I do like the look of this picture I saved with a mix of painted and wood stain pieces.

I'm gonna save this pic. I love the stripes on the wall too. Very cute space.

I wonder how that would look reversed, black table and wood chairs. I'd rather paint 1 table than a bunch of chairs...

Im going to see if I can find a picture of a black table and wood chairs...

But I think it's the black chairs that make that inspiration picture.

Maybe you can find someone to spray paint the chairs for you. I like the black chairs too.

Oh wait, your bother is a painter I remember you saying. There ya go. He can prime and spray them for you. : )

I like the deeper wood tone of your current table and agree that the painted chairs would look great.

Always, I love the inspiration pic you posted but is it just the table and chairs that you are attacted to or the complete look. Those chairs do look good in black though.

VG. Even though I do like this room, I saved the picture for the look of the chairs/table.

I think I have safely talked myself out of wanting to get the CL set that matches my chairs. I don't need 10 chairs!!

A couple extra would be nice and I think I could add two different chairs that blend in with my current chairs and get away with it, especially if I were to end up having the chairs painted black.

I was also thinking of going back to a rectangle table. Not 100% sure yet though.

But I do like the idea of going black on the chairs.

I think the table you have looks more solid..contrast to the chairs doesn't bother me but do think the chairs painted black would really look good...like the picture. I like the stripped wall too.

JMHO but the round/oval tables are easier, especially in a smaller dining area. We have a rectangle and I am just sooooo done with it. Those sharp corners can be hard to avoid when you have a crowd. Having the pedestal is much easier than having four legs - so much less to bump into! As soon as the kitchen remodel is done, mine will be on CL.

Always, I love a round table, much prefer them over square/rectangular. I'd love to have a huge round table in my diningroom but I don't think it would fit properly. I'd keep the round one if it were me.

Hi Always,

You find the best deals on your CL but I like your current table over the set pictured. You can always add more chairs on the corners if you need more seating. (You know those holiday dinners where we have to "like" everyone and squish in close?) Hard to do with those table legs in the way.

Your chairs would look great painted black-agree with others. I love your chairs with the 4 slats.

BTW: I traded an oval table for a rectangle one and love it.

Good Luck!

Oh I am SO glad I stopped by this thread! I had given our small kitchen table to a friend who desperately needed one...so that left us with only our dining room table, and who just wants to sit in there..haha...especially just hubby and I at home.

So I've been browsing around trying to find a bargain. Well found some oak chairs at a yard sale painted baby blue this morning, $10 a piece....then found a beautiful oak table at the thrift store for $45...I was thinking I might have to strip the chairs and was not looking forward to that project.

So now I will get out my black paint and go to town!

I prefer that furniture not "The matchy!", makes me feel as if I am in a furniture store display window.
Had one friend who had a home that every piece of furniture was matched in brand, style, etc.
This is my antique oak table with modern chairs.
