So, still not finished yet but trying different things. What are your opinions on how this looks with those pillows? I was thinking of adding panels with the rust color in the pillows...

Don't mind the color, but in my opinion the current rust colored ones are too wide. They should be mounted more off the window molding and covering no more than about 1/4 of the outer window. Right now they completely take up a good half of the outer windows. I'm sure others will have good suggestions as well.

Well, those curtains are just up there laying on sconces I had up there for the previous panels. They would be steamed, positioned a little more bunched together and moved to the outside more. Sorry, this one was a bad example but before I hang them for good, I wanted opinions. And I would have to order longer ones obviously. Thanks though!! Love others feedback!

I think "with." I have just roman shades on a larger window and it looks kinda bare.

You could add panels in the winter and take off in the spring/summer. ???

I like the rust color but maybe a rust colored print with a lighter background. I fear you are going to be in the same position with the dark room. Also, maybe a light colored throw and some greenery on the table.
Funny, I just noticed we have the same pillows. I have rust colred ones behind them. I also have brown leather couches. I have tan plaid curtains and an area rug the brings it all together.

I like the rust colored panels too. I also like it better without the cream colored pillows - you didn't need more solid - your sofa is solid enough! JMHO!

I don't mind panels up there but the rust color is too dark. I thought you were trying to give the room a fresh, more youthful look. I still stand by my original advice which was to play up the aqua and not the brick rust/red color. It will lighten up the room tremendously. An orange and brown color combination automatically looks heavy IMO.

At some point in time, you could replace the heavy coffee table with something lighter. Or even better, a large round upholstered ottoman in a print that also lightens the room.

So, what do you guys think about an area rug? Here are some I came across...

I love patterns. If you are doing a solid colored drape, maybe you need a couple of solid colored pillows with your patterns. Overall, I like where you are going with it. Good job!

Rust for the curtain panels (longer tho) is fine. I would suggest you pinpoint the area rug first tho and then draw a color for the windows from it. I love the patterned pillows on the sofas as I stated previously.

Re. the rug, PLEASE steer clear from a solid (there's enough solid going on already) and opt for a bold, vibrant, colorful print (such as the first rug) vs. pale or even textural solid. BTW, I thought you were going to pull the light blue out from the pillows or did you select the same pattern in rust, cream and green? Your finial pic in a rug is more what I had in mind as you don't have to carry every color in the pillows and furniture onto the area rug. I am wondering if the green is in the same family as that found in the pillows tho?

Froo Froo: I loved that pattern but found pillows in a local store that had that same pattern but in Rust, "limish green", brown, & cream. I love them!

The last rug I posted (green) I actually really like and thougt it would add a pop of color with the pillows and rust panels. I am not a fan of the solid cream rug either. The first rug is actually a really cheap material and I found that out after I posted it. Won't be getting that one because of that. The last one (green) is wool.

Here is a close up of the pillow. I don't think the picture still shows it's true colors. The green is on the verge of lime green. The green rug's reviews say that it is very true to color and quality is great! When I put the pillow by my screen it looks like it mathes quite well. I'm only out $39 to ship back the company said) if I don't like the rug. Which would be 5x8.

Here's another 100% wool rug..

I love the pillow and rug together! My only suggestion would be you need a rug larger than 5x8. At least the front legs of your seating should sit on the rug. Wait until you get the rug and pillows in the room before deciding on the panels. I don't care for the rust at all. It's too close to brown and you already have plenty of that in the room.

We were posting at the same time. The last rug is beautiful too. Both green rugs are a nice approach to traditional without looking stuffy.

I plan to put the rug slightly under the furniture. If I put it about 6" or so underneather the front feet of the couch and loveseat then the measurement of 5x8 would work (just barely). Unless I get the 7'6 x 9'6 but it's double the price (like a specialty size).

I might be completely losing my mind but it seems to me I saw a pic of this room with some blue and white patterned chairs. Did you have 2 chairs in your sunroom you had considered putting in this room? Maybe it was another poster on a different forum. I'm not spending enough time online to pay attention maybe.

I think unless you change out some of your furniture it's going to be difficult to achieve the look you want.

You are not crazy. It was originally my suggestion to change out the furniture, and the last I knew, that was where things had been left.

Now it's back to 50 shades of brown leather furniture. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but if it's a fresh, youthful feeling that is the aim, rust-colored curtains alone will not achieve it. Perhaps things have changed. That's OK, too.

I feel for you, M4L. It's not easy to satisfy everyone when it comes to re-decorating. Don't give up.

If you have blue going on in an adjoining space it's a good idea to carry it to some degree (even as an accent) in this space. This is why I thought the original pillow (same pattern) you selected orginally was ideal.

I also suspect that a larger rug would be more suited for this furniture grouping.

It seems that I'm just confusing everyone. So, let's just say that I am loving the pillow pattern and the rust color panels. If I was to go with those...what is your opinion on the rug I posted Aug 29, 2012 02:17 PM with what I have so far? After I am done with those things, I would like to see what I can add to the wall, tables, etc to pull it all together.
Are you all not liking the patterns and colors I have put together so far? Am I really that bad? I don't need it to look absolutely stunning and magazine perfect...I just want it to look "put together" and welcoming. Whether that's a warm welcoming or more of a suttle/sophisticated welcoming. Just as long as it's much better than what I started with.
With the next home, then I plan to purchase all new furniture and start from scratch which will be much easier!!!!
P.S: The sunroom with those teal & brown chairs is not in a room that joins with the living room. It's an open concept house and the sunroom is on the other side of the house. Front of the house being the living room, middle being the dining room and Kitchen, and back of house is the sunroom.
