I did end up ordering this quilt from JCPenney. I couldn't help myself..It was on sale and I had a $10. off coupon, so it was only like $55.
The color was perfect...but I didn't even bother to take the quilt out of the packaging...the fabric is sorta that silky-satiny finish and just touching the pillow shams it's like my skin on my fingers was snagging the material...You know what I mean??
So there is now way I could use the quilt on a daily basis. So that is out.

If the red is in the same family as that in your bed skirt I think it would be a lovely, not to mention lively choice for your room. I like it better than your first pick which appears to blend into the walls. I also like the idea of a shadow stripe with the print skirt. let us know how it worked once you try it out.

I think it would look good to get a couple of king size pillows to go behind your regular pillows. Get shams in red to match the comforter, and mix up some throw pillows in different fabrics and prints. I believe this would bring it all together nicely regardless of what comforter you decide on. Kohl's site was down when I just tried to look.
Yes..thank you b-rose..that is the red comforter at kohls. The bed skirt does have a lot of bright colors in it but I wouldn't want a quilt or comforter in those colors, bright teal green, sort of a minty color, a bright blue safflower color, which is pretty but again don't want it for the quilt color. Besides a bronze/ brown or caramel/gold color quilt my other choice is red.

I think the red will look good, and really add a nice punch of color to the room. Even if you keep the white quilt on the bed and fold the red at the foot of the bed with the added red pillow shams it'll really make the room stand out.

Tell me what you think of this. Keeping it as is with the off white ruffle quilt & matching shams and just adding a red sheet sheet that comes with red pillow cases?

I think that would work great. You could add a throw or a accent pillow using one of the colors in the dust ruffle if you wanted. If it was me, I would roll the top sheet over the quilt so it would show. I bought those same ruffled quilts in white for my twin beds and I really like them and I think yours works with the dust ruffle.

I did find red sheets. $15. clearance at Wal Mart if you can believe it!! I happened across them one morning when I ran in real quick for something...I was about to take them back because I thought they were too dark/maroon looking but the plastic wrapping made them appear darker than they were. The color is a nice red, not bright but not maroon either.
Nice sheets by Canopy. But of course I caught them on the tailend...clearance and no longer available. oh well.
I put my bed back to get together with the red sheets and pillow cases, folded the quilt back so the top of the sheet would show. It look ok but I think because the quilt is almost too small for the bed, it just doesn't have to look I was hoping for.
I wish they would make quilts/comforters a little bigger to at least cover the top mattress. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Always1StepBehind,

Have you thought of trying a queen size coverlet for your double bed? Look at the dimensions....might work or you might have to fold it down at the top....not sure.
I put a king size comforter and pillows on my queen size guest bed. It works okay, but the corners on the quilt are a bit long and I have to overlap the pillows a bit.

Not to mention flat sheets! Mine barely covers the regular mattress, but when you add any sort of featherbed or foam top, the sheets don't cover adequately. I use clips to hold the fitted in place, but I really don't know why the sheet manufacturers haven't caught on to this...
