Help! Which bathroom vanity should I use? Sign In/Join

We tore out our bathroom down to the studs and are redoing it. This is what we have done so far: http://s472.photobucket.com/al.../Bathroom%20Remodel/

Now I have to pick out a bathroom vanity and not spend over $600 total. The vanity needs to measure 48".

I was thinking maybe a darker wood with a creamy-colored speckled vanity top would look good. My husband said he thinks this one will look good: http://www.lowes.com/pd_115879..._dollar|1&facetInfo= But I didn't know if a black vanity top would look right since the bathroom is light colored. I have no idea what I should get. I really hate making decisions. lol

I have been looking on Home Depot and Lowes websites trying to figure it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It largely depends on the other items you are going to install. Do your pictures reflect what is going to stay in the room? As most bathrooms are one of the smaller rooms in a home, it is important to make sure everything coordinates well. If you want to use the cherry vanity with a dark top, have you thought about how it will relate to the other areas?

A few years ago I decorated a bathroom with a very similar vanity configuration. The Travertine tile on the floor had small black granite diamonds in each corner to repeat the colour of the counters.

The way you see the bathroom in the pictures is how it is going to stay the vanity is the last thing we're putting in so my husband is waiting on me to make a decision.

There's not really any black anywhere in the room so I didn't really think a vanity with a black top would really look right. Am I wrong?

Before making your decision, look here for a wider selection of styles, sizes, finishes and prices. http://www.homedecorators.com/...ion=4&typeDefId=4552

IMO, the vanity with the black top is visually too dark and heavy for what I've seen of your bath.

ETA: FWIW, Home Decorators is owned by Home Depot.

Thanks for your opinion I really appreciate that. There was only 1 vanity on that website that is the size I need. :-(

Good luck.

I love the vanity you chose! I was just in HD looking at granite tops and they have one that would fit a 48 inch vanity. It's beige-y granite and $199.00. I think since a black top would be the only black item, it's not really a great choice. IMHO. If you choose a neutral, you can put whatever color you want for towels, curtains, etc.

Let us know what you choose.Smile

Oops, sorry I just noticed that the black top comes with that vanity. bummer!

Yes, the counter comes on the cabinet. I like the cabinet fine, but I just think the counter being black will not look right.

The black top makes it look more formalI. I would prefer a lighter tone top too but you could make this one work. I'd just add a bit more black around the room, i.e. black framed pictures.

Everything seems to look golden beige.
If they were white or silver grey then the cherry and black would look great.
But I think you should listen to the others here. They are giving you some really good advice.
That's a lovely vanity but you've got to work with what you've got.
Actually, it's not the black I object to at all, it is the cherry that clashes with the walls and floor. A black vanity would look terrific in that room.
Go to Home Depot or Lowes and look around. There's a lot to pick from.
Good luck and let us know how it works out.

This is the counter top that I had originally picked out. Would this counter top: http://www.lowes.com/pd_293628...t=estate+vanity+tops

and this vanity look better in this bathroom?

You asked,so here goes: Sorry, but the vanity and countertop you show are just too plain vanilla and don't do justice to your bath. A bit more contrast would be just the ticket.

How about this vanity and the Desert Gold countertop, both from Lowes: http://www.lowes.com/ProductDi...l=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

postpone, that one is pretty. Problem is, shipping is $337.00. :-o

aychihuahua, I like that one, but it would go over our $600 budget (since counter was $200). :-(

Have you seen this one at Lowes?
http://www.lowes.com/ProductDi...l=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

You must purchase this granite top separately which is another $189.

http://www.lowes.com/ProductDi...l=nofollow&cId=PDIO1

But the good news is, there are no shipping charges
