Hi everyone Smile I am helping my friend decorate her apartment. She loves cars...vintage cars to be exact. I want to decorate either the living room or bathroom with this theme. What are some ideas for going about this without the theme being too overwhelming? Smile Thanks!

I guess it would depend on her decorating style, traditional, eclectic, modern...etc. What type of furniture does she have? Pictures of the furniture and/or rooms may help.

One fun thing is to make wall "sconces" with car outdoor view mirrors.
And of course the obvious tire rim wall hanging.

Welcome. How nice of you to help your friend decorate. The first idea that popped into my head was to find a photo op where your friend can actually sit in or stand by (pose) a vintage car and have the photo enlarged to hang as a unique piece of art in her apartment. BTW, the car she selects as her prop should be in a favorite color that is echoed in her room scheme. She may even opt to dress the era.

She should check to see when local auto shows are scheduled for her area. Explain to the owner what her plans are and if she's in luck, she'll have a personal piece of art that will become the showpiece of her living room.

FYI, my DS's wedding includes a group photo of him, his bride and the wedding party posed as gangsters in formal attire beside vintage cars DIL's dad painstaking refurbished over the years.

Don't know what your friend means by "vintage" cars, but if you go to an antiques type mall you can find old magazines that would have lots of images of old cars in them.

Here is one way I used such an image. This is a glass over a mirror. The mirror has the images glued to it.

Better yet, Froo, I bet there is an antique car owner somewhere nearby. these people love their cars so much they gladly would allow such a photo to be taken!

We have such an acquaintance here and I'm sure he would be willing.

LOS, that's always an option. A car club in her area can direct her to locals who may be ready, willing and able to assist in this photo op.

Does she happen to have any family photos by vintage cars that could be enlarged/framed? That could be doubly special!

Vintage license plates might also be an option, grouped together.
