I adore live green plants (or blooming ones for that matter) and the look that they give to a room.

And even if you put them in a cachepot, if you don't watch you can get marks on your tabletop from too damp cachepots or just the saucers that you put plants in!

I've pot those "mats" -- plastic on one side, carpety stuff on the other and they work but I've found a better solution, quite by accident --

Those wooden bases that you set Asian bowls or ginger jars on! They get the plant pot OFF the tabletop, they look much prettier than those mats, they're readily available, come in all sizes and you can get them really inexpensively at places like Hobby Lobby or I suspect World Market.

It's a great and I think stylish solution.

Great idea. I love those stands and they come in different designs that work well with different styles of decor.

Thank you for sharing your idea.It is a great idea and looks pretty.I will be looking for some to use.Nothing looks pretier than REAL house plants & flowers.I have several philodrans and peace lilys.I love the touch warm feeling they give a home.And the fresh air too.Helps my allgeries.

I have used (cough) foam plates,LOL,and pie plates.I did buy some clear plastic outdoor pans.I'm using on 3 house plants now.

What a great idea and so pretty too. I ruined a wonderful wood entertainment center once having a real potted plant on it and the water seeped thru. Ugh.

I find those Asian stands very useful even tho I seldom have plants any more. I used to buy every one I found at yard sales so have a few from the small ones to the fish bowl size with legs. I find they 'elevate' ones decor (pun) in more than height. A simple ginger jar, plant, or decorative accessory on a stand looks so much better than without.
