Has anyone ever been to the resale store? Supposedly they are open only on Saturday mornings. There was an article in our local Cleveland Plain Dealer.

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday - the only time ReStore, 6920 Union Ave., is open - about 300 do-it-yourselfers routinely buy these items "for 20 to 30 cents on the dollar," said Habitat executive director Jeffrey Bowen. (FROM THE ARTICLE)

Full Stoy Here

I guess there are some great deals here...

Ours here in Dayton is open on Wed - Saturdays!! And oooohhhh the finds you can find if you only take the time!!!

Wow - that kinda sounds like Dr Seuss, huh???

It is a great place to check out on a semi-regular basis...my latest find were these shutters that i bought to incorporate into a privacy screen for my front porch...haven't finished it yet...Got 4 shutters this size for $8...

You never know what you're going to find. ARe you close to the Union Ave? I don't know where that is....(grew up on east side of cleveland)

WOW, great find AND sooooo cheap!

Yeah, I am in Twinsburg about 25 minutes away from Cleveland. Sounds like it would be a fun thing to do.

I am gonna talk DH into going with me as it probably isn't in the best area.

Ours is huge and has tons of stuff. I'm actually dropping off the granite-topped vanity that's in my bathroom when I get around to ripping it out. I imagine someone will be tickled to find granite there. Smile

Ours also is the only source for the paint sold at safepaint.com

BECCA, i have a monopoly on old screen doors in my area Smilei just keep collecting and collecting them! my local restore is sparse right now, but they are usually high price; i know it goes to a good cause, but i can go to the flea market & get it cheaper.

you never know what they are going to have - you can always call them and find out.... unless you just want to take a ride out there..

the one here is sometimes great, & other times there isn't a whole lot....thankfully the best part about Dayton is that you're never more than 15 min from everywhere! Cool

I have never heard of a Habitat for Humanity store. I wonder if we have one in Georgia? Whenever I come on this board & see you Ohio/Cleveland folks talking it makes me miss Cleveland but only b/t May-September. We will be in Cleveland in mid-May to celelbrate my grandmother's 90th birthday. Too bad the Indians are not in town that weekend.

Formerly- Clevelander until my account was suspended. G*d only knows why.

Just saw this post. A good Habitat ReStore is a fantastic place to shop but you have to go often especially if you're looking for something in particular. See if you Habitat for Humanity has a website. Mine does, and I got on their email list. When something especially nice is at the ReStore (such as the uncut-but-outdated formica counter tops last year or whatever the going-out-of-business hardware store donated last month), an email is sent.

I have one near me in Michigan. I go to it every Saturday morning. I bought shutters for 2$, a picture for 2$, and some bellows for the same. I also have found some awesome wood chairs, tile, etc. The stuff at my store is pretty cheap and they some times have antiques too. I'm off to see if they have a website.

We have two here in Austin, and I only found out a couple of days ago from an ad that our original one was "the first in the country." I did not know that...I have checked it out a couple of times, and while they do have lots of stuff, I guess none of it was what I was in the market for at the time. However, I had a neighbor who got a gorgeous mantel surround there, so you never know...If you have one, and have the time, check it out.

Dh and I visited the Des Moines store for the first time Thursday when we were in "the city" for something else. We didn't get anything, but we were really impressed! It was huge, and there was a great selection of appliances, carpet, carpet pad, lumber, trim, doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, countertop (12 ft. formica for $36 - any chunk under 4 ft. was $1) floor tile, paint, and LIGHT FIXTURES! Tons of them. I'm sure I'm forgetting things, but that was just some of it. We will def. visit regularly to look for deals, especially since we're renovating our whole house.

Oh yeah - ours is open 6 days a week and has a website and emails. It was started a few years ago by a high school business class in conjunction with Habitat, I think.

Here's the website for ours:

***huffing and puffing & swigging a big glass of iced tea cause I'm exhausted!***

I just got back from going to BOTH stores here in Nashville.

WOOHOO...we needed two sets of bifold doors for bathroom/closet...got them, $10 each! Older doors, nice & heavy, too.

I took a couple pics of things I am considering, will post them & see what y'all think.

This vanity top is $20. Is this badly "dated"?
It has one crack line up to the left of where the faucets would go; looks like it could be sanded out.

Grrrr,I hit "submit" before I was finished.

But they had TONS of stuff...at both stores. Most of it next to nothing, i.e. paint, tile, etc. Lots of doors & windows. Shutters. Cabinets. Sinks. Toilets. I'd say at least half of it was brand new stuff, if not more.

One store is building materials, appliances, etc. The other is household goods...lots of good buys on picture frames, that type of thing.

I saw this ottoman at the other store; it is $35. And I LOVE the rug under it; it would look good in our guest room w/ the old furniture but I got distracted & forgot to ask the price...

We have one downtown. I think they're open most days.

I have found a few things there but ours is high priced for the most part. Sad.

I don't get near as much there as I'd like because I'm not paying their prices.

I DID get my door that I used for my headboard from there.... it was $30.00 though.
