So I've been showing you my current kitchen and its transformation. I'm going pretty mainstream because we are selling. Someone mentioned I'm going to love it so much I won't want to move. I think its going to look great, but I will be able to walk away happy at the results.
So the new kitchen is a totally different style and I think one of a kind. I'm going from a small ranch style home with a cottage decor to a more Spanish/hacienda style home. The new kitchen definitely screams that style. My DH found this house and he thought the kitchen would be the deal breaker for me, but as quirky as it is, I like it. The cabinets are painted/glazed turquoise. I have no plans to renovate this kitchen in the near future because I like the fact that it is so different and not cookie cutter. I keep forgetting my camera when we go down and my pictures I have taken seem grainy, so here is the kitchen from when it was listed:

He thought it would be a deal-breaker? I think it's great! Judging by the pic anyway. No matter how much nicer the old kitchen turns out to be it will never have the sense of space this one does. One of the fun things about this kitchen is that since the cabinets are already painted, you can do anything you want with them if you tire of their color and not have to feel guilty about it. Personally, I like them as they are. As much as I like traditional natural cherry cabinets (which I have never had, by the way,)I could get along very nicely with these. I also like that it seem like you have plenty of functional space in addition to breathing room. You're gonna love it!

Bella, that's exactly what I thought, I loove the open space. Going from a galley/one butt kitchen to this is wonderful! When DH showed me this he was concerned about the color, I looked at him, "hellllo I painted my cabinets black", this color is fun!
My problem is what color to paint the walls. I am looking to do the house in mostly creams, tans and whites with turquoise and blue being the color to tie the house together. This room connects to a sun room and the dining wall shares a wall with the living room. I'm thinking a creamy non yellow white. I'm not a fan of the gold/yellow at all. Heres a pic of the other side, again a pic from the listing, not my table or art work. That rust door leads to a pantry. I have changed the shades on the chandelier to a burlap color shade.

WOW Annie!!Like you said it's a fun, cheery & happy kitchen and huge too.Love it.I can see spending lots of time in this kitchen.Maybe not all cooking either, maybe gathering area for the family.LOL.
Are you going to put a nice banquet bench or seatee along that wall with a huge table?Oh please keep us posted on this lovely home.
Jackie the area is really quite tight so I bought a little dinette at Pier one, I figured the wrought iron legs kind of worked with the spanish style. The dining room is all part of the living area so if I get a dining table I want to put a trestle type in there that will seat a bigger crowd. Heres a pic of the dinnette, I took it with my phone so quality is bad.

I love it and what great fun you will have picking out colors. Maybe you could take a drawer to the paint dealer and match other colors to it, then off to the fabric store to match fabric for curtains. You have so much more space here, I can see why you do not worry about leaving the other kitchen.
Mary Ruth, we currently have a small ranch house that we are going to sell and this is a house with just a little more square footage but its much more open. My2 gals, I'm really liking the tile, it's so different than what I'm used to, but it really sets the tone of the house. This house I plan to be very casual, kick up your feet and relax. It's near the beach so I don't want high maintanence at all. Wanda, you are so right, as much as I've loved my current house and kick myself for not redoing it earlier, this move is so worth it.
Heres one more pic of the sunroom right off the kitchen you step down into it and they continued the tile....again this is from the listing not my furniture and its really not as big as this pic looks.
