We might be moving to another state which mean either buying a new home or buying an older home with updates or our having to update. The home we are in now has higher toilets and we love them. Now I know that they are considered a universal design. I found this link and have bookmarked it in my favorites. I saw that you'd posted on the other UD post so I was wondering what you thought of the information on the below link as far as accuracy. Thanks in Advance

Along these lines, where to you measure when measuring toilet seat height for UD??? Top of the ceramic part and below the lid? Top of the lid?

i did a quick search at home depot...and aside from styling, the average is about 29 3/4 x16 3/4x 30 1/2....(this was kohler and the other was no more that 1/4 " or so on the other brands...)

wwe bought our first one when my mother had moved in, but fell in love with it and replaced our upstairs bath as well...i tried to get dd1 to replace hers but no such luck...i feel as if i'm at an elementary school it's is so low, lol....btw the prices ran from about $250 to over $500!

We have also replaced toilets with the higher ones. The low ones are just too low for us.

You are correct in considering the UD in a remodel and be prepared in case you should need it later.

I love the resource you posted Ruby. It is an accurate guide, and a great overview. I also love that it is government produced and free to anyone. That is as it should be.

I also have higher toilets. I choose them because I have a tall husband and tall children. My husband is 6'5". My sons are 6'3", and 6'5", and my daughters are 6'0", and 5'11". I am the shorty in the family at 5'6". Universal height toilets make certain times in life much more comfortable at my house!

And if anyone is looking for a higher toilet just look for one labeled "universal", or "ADA compliant". Much easier to remember than specific dimensions.
