Thought some might enjoy this video of Celine Dion's 'castle' which is now for sale.

WOW so tastefully done though. I love the reserved reverence in this dwelling. And on an island! WOW, too bad it is a bit out of my price range or we could have a great HGTV board member party there!

Thanks for sharing!

What struck me the most is the music playing which I posted a link to once and was told I was pretentious!

I guess it's true that circumstances change cases!

LOS.
What beautiful music! Thanks for the link!

You should never take anything like that comment serious, after all... all you did was post a link not write the music nor perform it! lol

I think the opera might have been a bit much for the house at first, but when I saw all the work that went into keeping it tasteful and refined I saw why they chose that music. I think playing Celine Dion's music would have worked well too!

I am afraid I have to disagree.

Perhaps the footage was murky, but the house is much too dark, cold and static to me. Luxurious yes, but it has the feel of a museum. In fact, the article mentions how little used the house was, which is why it is on the market. Also, the unfortunate shot of the exterior gives the home a forbidding appearance; as bleak as something out of Bronte.

There was virtually no soul or personality; just room after room of the same exact period furnishings. It looked as if all the furnishings were acquired at the same time to fill up the cavernous spaces, not lovingly collected or curated over time. To me, it is a trophy house; not a home.

And, as much as I love Delibes' Flower Duet, it has almost become a cliche as the default background music for countless commercials, like British Airways. I would have much rather heard some of Ms. Dion's more romantic ballads, but I am sure licensing restrictions would not allow for it.

Tx for sharing, but no wonder they want smaller!!! That place leaves me wanting to go bundle myself in a large afghan. Too opulent, too austere!!! Seems to me, all the mega stars have museum-looking homes that don't really look lived in.

I did like that fit-together chair (in the bathroom???).

aychihuahua,
I am sure this is VERY staged, said they don't use the house much anymore. All personal items were removed (if they every had much).

If I were her, I can see how she 'got her dream house' and then realized it was not livable. I am sure this house is very staged and being sold either furnished or all will be sold at auction.

I wouldn't want any personal items in my home when it went up for sale.

My house was stripped of all personal items when I staged it for sale, and the longer it was on the market, I kept moving things out, I had to 'move on' so I was not wasting time.

Have you ever been inside a 'famous' person's house or place of business? YUCK, full of autographed photos of who they know... awards, etc. wouldn't want those items to be considered a way to jack up the price! lol

I went to Bert & Jack's restaurant in Miami one time some years back and the place was full of Loni Anderson's close-up (signed) photos... before the big Divorce, was nauseating! I did enjoy the photos of Bert Reynolds and Jackie Gleason though, not overpowering.

Thanks for posting; neat to get a glimpse of Celine's pad. Also nice to get differing opinions...It's a little hotel-like for my taste. I'd love to see more of the scenery. That's why I'd be moving to the island. And I'd want to know where I'm putting my boats.
