I purchased original magazines of The New Yorker on Ebay for $12.50 each and then hit Michaels today for frames that I lucked out on for 6.00 on clearance. I simply framed the cover and voila......

The magazines are dated to the mid 1940's but are in excellent condition. So let your mind wander as you could frame Vogue, Good Housekeeping, you name it and you can have yourself some art decor on the cheap, but it hardly looks cheap! These will be going in my office.

What a great idea! Very impressive for not too much spent.

This is a tried and true way to create an eye-catching display. Like items, identically framed, in multiples, is always chic, especially New Yorker covers.

I'll never forget the two lovely men who lived near me in DC, who covered every inch of their tall stairwell walls with framed Playbill covers; at least 100. And, that was only a fraction of the covers they owned.

They were inveterate theater-goers and traveled several times a month to NY to attend Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, even to the Tony Awards each June.

All covers were framed in simple black frames. So elegant, with the bold yellow, white and gray covers.

They look great sunny. You can frame so many things if you use your imagination. I brought my mom and niece to a book fair recently and I just looked for art books that I could take a few pics from for framing.

And, you are a woman after my own heart with those fabulous vintage New Yorker covers you found. I am a long-time subscriber to the New Yorker, and have always wanted a print wall of nothing but NYer covers. I am envious!

So ironic you should say this as many years ago I saw in a decorating magazine your exact idea! A young girl found a bundle of The New Yorker Magazines in an antique shop that she purchased and had the idea doing an entire wall in her living room. She had just moved in and was in need of wall decor for her empty space and I never got that image out of my head, so when I was in need of wall art the light bulb went off. Needless to say, her wall was stunning!

The great thing about my 3 prints is that they tell a story, at least for me. The one with the trees is a fall/winter scene of people gathering kindling for the coming winter which represented us living in Upstate NY. The other is of a woman directing a moving van with a white colonial in the distance with a "for sale" sign" which represented us selling our colonial; The other with the sail boat on the dock represents us now being on the water in FL with a dock out our back door. But of course the best is the fact they are all The New Yorker! My home state!

Just typing this out brought back many memories and a HUGE smile on my face - Thank you! xo
