But I gotta tell ya - taking those big brown doors off (to paint) visually doubled the size of the room!

I love my open shelving (and it is shelving as opposed to cupboards) of course things need to be washed more frequently, but they get dirty inside cupboards too. My way, you are just reminded of it more often. Since this is a collection as well as necessary serving/eating pieces it all is not in circulation. On other side of this narrow space shelving over stove/refrigerator does have doors as these are appliances/baking things, not pretties! Becca you cupboards look very neat. I have to think more about visuals. Do not notice that closed doors narrow the space. Am actually thinking about putting doors on these bays as while I like it this way, prospective buyers probably would not. . . not that we are selling

Thanks, Peri and Joyce!
los, It would be a whole different story if I had a collection as nice as yours! I'm hoping it's not the doors as much as it is the big and brown that narrowed the space. "Man in the Moon" is the name of the paint color I'll be painting them, so I'm hoping they'll recede a bit Smile.

LOL Becca, that's one reason I'm hesitant to use glass door cabinets too. I think I may compromise and just put in one open shelf. I figure I should at least be able to keep that in order and fill it with a collection of some sort.

Be sure to post pics of your progress!

Here's my inspiration room, though I think the colors I picked are going to be a little more subtle.

I'll go try to make some progress now Roll Eyes.

I put glass doors on all my upper cabinets and because you can see them, you do keep them neat. I'm the world's worst at "out of sight -- out of mind" and often you need to stand back when you open a closet door!

Becca, are you going to do the two tone paint job? I'm considering this for the kitchen condo. I would do green on the cabinet and white for the doors. Thanks for posting that picture.

Yep, I'm going to do the yellow and green - I figure if it looks bad I can always repaint one or the other (white), but I'm going to see if I can make it cheerful. Smile Don't tell DH, but I'm also kind of hoping it'll help me convince him to let me experiment with painting the countertops and floor, too. Wink

Skyler, I'm not sure I made that clear - I'm sure the green & white would look good, I've seen pictures like that, have you?

Becca, I actually haven't ever seen the green and white combo but figured it might be worth a try. If I don't like it I'll just repaint it all white.

I can't wait to see your cabinets when you get them finished!
