I added actual picture of armoire and updated the amount of desk space I would have in closet nook..See below UPDATES.
Sons room is fairly small...He has a metal closet organizer in his closet nook area along with a SMALL 3 drawer dresser (more like a nightstand size dresser)
Then in his room area, its just a full size bed and my old tv armoire to house his tv/xbox.
He wants a desk area in his room and he definately needs a bigger dresser/folded clothes storage.
So here where the amoire is, I'm thinking of replacing the armoire with a media dresser. Dresser that has the two top openings for game console/dvd players or whatever...so that will take care of tv/xbox and dresser storage:This message has been edited. Last edited by: Always1StepBehind,
I'd replace above armoire with something similar to this:
Then this is his closet nook that has a metal closet organizer rack. I would take that out and put in an ikea mirrored wardrobe that has 2 mirrored doors and a drawer under doors and then add a shelf for a desk top beside the armoire for a desk area for son.
UDPATE: Armoire is about 40 inches wide and I double checked measurments and I have almost 50 inches instead of 40 inches for the desk side...This message has been edited. Last edited by: Always1StepBehind,
UPDATED to add the actual wardrobe I have to use in sons closet.
Sorry about the reflection of the other stuff in the garage, but it was hard to get a good picture. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Always1StepBehind,
So the closet nook would house the wardrobe on one side and then have a desk shelf built something like this next to the wardrobe:This message has been edited. Last edited by: Always1StepBehind,
Your idea for the closet sounds very nice...measure carefully though because a desk 40 inches wide would be minimum IMHO. As for the armour that he has his TV/games in looks great. I don't think you will have any more storage in the furniture you pictured. Save your money unless you just want something new. You could paint the armour a blue or something to match his bedding?
I'm thinking something more like this for a media/dresser..I would have to take out the top 2 drawers, but the rest of drawers look a good size to house clothing, especially for a boy clothes. Normally they dont need as much drawer space as a girl would.
I think converting a tall dresser would be better than buying a cheaply made over priced "media dresser"

And in regards to using the above dresser/it would be too tall. The seller texted me and it's 55inches tall. If it was one drawer shorter, it would have been perfect.
Does the current TV armoire fit inside the closet? Does the TV cable hook-up work there? Then a clothes dresser next to the bed & a desk under the window perhaps?
My dson didn't have a dresser in his room; fishing poles and tackle, yes. All clothes were folded on shelves in his closet w/ a rod for hangers too. Baskets held undies and socks. It worked well for him. I found the simplest systems were best.
It doesn't look like the closet space is fully utilized to it's full potential. How wide is the space? I always liked the taller pieces for small rooms too. They don't take up the width space that typical dressers do. Good luck with your new project. Always fun to see your updates and changes.

Is there electrical outlet in closet to accomodate a light?
B-Rose..the current armoire is a tv armoire and the Ikea armiore is an actual amoire for hanging clothes, that is the reason for using the Ikea mirrored wardrobe in the closet. The Ikea wardrobe has doors that will be closed and you won't see his clothes hanging like you do with the current metal closet system in there now.
A media dresser across from his bed (where the current amoire with tv in is now)will take care of the tv/xbox and his folded clothes.
I want the desk area in the closet nook because the room is pretty tight.
And yes, there is electric outlets in the closet area for lighting.
The closet opening is 91 inches wide.
