We are trying to spruce up our dining room. The problem is that there is no overhead wiring and running electrical is not in the budget. Any creative ideas besides 6 table lamps? thanks, d-
You can hang an overhead light or chandelier that plugs into the wall. If you use a cord cover painted the same color as the ceiling and wall, it could be a stop gap measure. Sconces can be added using the same methodology. Otherwise, you could add floor lamps in the corners of the room and you can use lots and lots of candles.
They also sell raceways or cord covers you can attach to the wall and ceiling to hide wiring. And pay an electrician to install long single wire to outlet source you are not dealing with extension cords.

That's what I have in my dining room area..I did the exact same thing Junk Collector suggested..bought a swag kit at Home Depot and added it to a fixture.
The cord is supposed to be on a hook up in the corner but I have it resting on the curtain rod...
