I said awhile back I was going to put up some pictures of our redecorating project in the kitchen. It's been so long since i tried to post pics here, hope I can still do it! First, the 2 inspiration pictures. I didn't try to make my kitcen a duplicate of these, just tried to incorporate them into my kitchen. My goal was to make the kitchen over as inexpensively as possible as we plan a total tear down and remodel in a few years. But I had stood it as long as I could! I am in love with it. And the good thing about it is that I have 3 different sets of decor-he vintage 40s look you see in the pictures, watermelons-yes, so 90s, but I still love them!and french country sunflowers and roosters. I can rotate and use any of them and they will all match! Inspiration#1This message has been edited. Last edited by: Becky56, ![]()

My kitchen before. This pic does not do justice to how bad it was. I didn't have a more recent pic-(because of how bad it was!)but it was a drab red and I was so sick of it! ![]()

The same area after. Note I finally got rid of the awful mauve 90s countertops. We used the new Rustoleum countertop paint. Total cost for the beadboard backsplash was just under 50.00 and what a difference! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Becky56, ![]()

Since I am a white kitchen lover I think yours looks great. Love the beadboard and new hardware. What is counter top paint? What was the counter made of that you could paint it? Enjoy it. I'm sure it was a lot of work painting all those cupboards but you will get a lot of pleasure out of your accomplishment.

LOS, I can say for the first time that I love my kitchen! They are formica countertops with tile around the edges. There was also a tile backsplas and we removed that. This paint is made for countertops. It comes by the quart and you choose the color from their samples and it is mixed in the store. We did our kitchen and had paint leftover from the quart. It took 2 coats. The smell(fumes) was awful, but only lasted a few hours. There was a curing time of 3 days after each coat. But in the end, it was worth it!

Well now you KNOW how much I love black and white (my own kitchen -- albeit Mexican influence -- is also black, white and terracotta). So I am really liking the new "you" very much. What an improvement.

Kudos, Becky. You are so resourceful and the results show it. Love how you carried through the black and white scheme in the hardware and cabinet color to complement the new appliances. And, the beadboard is perfect.

Looks Great! Have to comment on the red chair w/stairs. I had one of those when I was a kid. I sat in it for years until I was big enough for a reg. chair. We had a similiar table too. Do you know what that chair is called? Thanks for the memories.

All I know it as is a kitchen step stool. Most you see are made by Cosco, but this one is Marsh Allen Mfg Co. I always wanted one so badly, and DS2 got this one for Christmas for me a few years ago. Love that vintage 40s look in red!
