CaraRose, many ideas illustrated involve simple materials and on hand embellishments. I used white or brown paper this year (something I've also done in the past) and bought pretty wired ribbons on sale along w/ gift tags which jazzed up the presents for little money or effort. These threads posted were merely to inspire. Common household materials like newspaper, fabric scraps, leftover wall paper, brown paper bags, strings, yarn, stencils, etc. were often used and the end result was unique and frugal. BTW, I'm also a fan of uniting my wrap w/ a theme related to the gift or room scheme. Hope these have inspired you vs. intimidated you.
