victorian girl: Love your projects! Love the silver and black color theme! I think my favorite thing is the cat woman costume on the doll under glass. Dynamite! I also think the little black paper and glitter cat is sweet and resourceful. I mean spooky! Ha. Great job!

Also, your fall project was inspiring. Really pretty!

jaysmom49: I am so glad you joined in! Of course your project is in the spirit of the challenge! Love the potted spooky trees, and the traffic cone candy corn is really fun!

Thanks Gracie.

Jaysmom, great idea, tomato cages are perfect for making tree shapes.

nanc, I usually let the objects speak to me. I sure didn't have a catwoman doll in mind because I just found it there. Not something you'd normally find. I see things in shapes so that is what I go by.

CC, I think that is one of my all time favorite transormations on a craft, love that shoe. You are so crafty.

Cocok, thanks. It's a glammed up version of halloween, I like how it turned out. The catgirl shows up more IRL.

Very neat ideas everyone. I like all of them. I'm afraid I had forgotten about this although I had mine done. I have been so busy the last while. Anyway here is what I did.

My befores...
An old picture I had that I gave $2.00 for. A piece of leftover scrap fabric. A set of pumpkin doilies I got on clearance at Kmart last year for 50 cents after all the mark downs.

A $1.00 from the Dollar Tree pumpkin I bought last year and some mod podge and cinnamon I already had. I had already started in this picture.

...and here are the afters.

I put a coat of mod podge on the pumpkin, sprinkled cinnamon, another coat of mod podge, then cinnamon and then sealed it with 1 last coat of mod podge. The pumpkin smells like cinnamon.

The doilies and frame I turned into a picture. The grouping I made is with the picture and includes the things on top of my cabinet ....the pumpkin, a little log cabin I bought a few weeks ago and some things I had. Even with the picture and the things on top of the shelf even with the things I had were less than $10.00 to put together. Picture about $2.50, cinnamon pumpkin $1.00, sunflower basket $1.00 at a yard sale, log cabin was $3.33 (I bought 3 items for $10.00 from the same person), basket 25 cents at yard sale, little pumpkins were 99 cents for 3 at the fruit market, nest 25 cents at yard sale.

I actually meant to do some more but didn't have time.

Oh and I want to show you my dining room table vignette too. I had the dough bowl. Bought it a few months back. I added one of my cinnamon pumpkins, a cute Dollar Tree crow, some pumpkins and gourds from the fruit market and a few small plastic pumpkins. I have had the candle holders and candles for a while.

I am what I am because He is I AM!!!

Really fun and creative projects Lisa Ann! Those framed pumpkin doilies are especially fantastic, and I wish I could smell the cinnamon pumpkin!

I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of the posters who participated in the Thrifty Halloween Challenge. I think it was great fun to see everyone's projects, and I am inspired by the creativity shown!

If you intended to share, and just haven't yet, please go ahead! I am not "closing" the thread, just pausing to reflect.

It is a fun bunch here isn't it! Great people!

Lisa Ann,
What vision you had with those pumpkin doilies!
I am happy to see what you all have come up with! And I didn't have to do a thing... you guys did all the work and provided the eye candy too!

I'm late to this party but perhaps 'better late than never'. So much fun to see everyone's interesting decorations. I had thought about doing something clever but have been busy. I'll have to live vicariously through the creative genius of others! Smile

I didn't make or buy anything new as am downsizing so just gathered stuff I already had and put it together.

Here are some of the 'ingredients'. I didn't use them all in the vignette I'm posting but did used them all in other places.

Photobucket

This is one of my first arrangements which I didn't like.

Photobucket

This is the current arrangement which could change at any time! Some of these items are old, the rope mirror was a find 35 years ago in the south of France, the brass candlesticks and teapot are family heirlooms as is the Depression glass cookie plate with handle, all else were yard sale finds. The old runner has holes which I've tried to hide! The small antique buffet it's on really needs refinishing and may be done soon.

Photobucket

Edited to add:

Just realized how unbalanced that arrangement looked so changed it yet again! LOL Is this better?

joyluck,I am so glad you posted! I love how many versions of your arrangement you came up with. After Halloween you can take away the pumpkin and keep going for fall. Nice.

Lucky, great looking vignette. I have to tell you, without the brass tea pot, your first pic is my favorite arrangement.

Thanks cocok and victoriangirl. I feel like a lazy piker but to tell the truth I'm becoming less interested in creating home decor after getting rid of about 90% of the 'stuff' I had. Still like playing around with what I still have.

This has been an interesting thread.
